Arashi, Our Ultimate Stress Reliever + A Story About My Dog Phobia (Ulog Day 31)

When I was young, I developed a phobia for dogs. It so happened that I and another cousin were running an errand for our aunt and there was a dog named "Sheila" in our neighborhood. Yes, that dog share the same name with me so I will never forget it.

When I and my cousin were on our way to the store, that dog has been following us with a very fierce expression. It has been growling ever since it saw us go out from our grandmother's house. After buying what we need to buy, that dog started barking loudly at us that we found ourselves running.

I was far ahead from my cousin and reached my grandma's doorstep but unfortunately, when I look back the dog was already biting my cousin's behind. I shouted and my uncle saved my cousin. The dog owners took their dog away and tied her. My cousin was then brought to the health center for vaccination.

From then, I cower in fear every time I see dogs. I just stand there frozen every time. It continued on until I was in University. It was always a challenge for me whenever we go to our community duty because we had to walk in various areas be it in the mountains, the city or the seaside. And there are a lot of stray dogs here in the Philippines. But somehow, I survived.

One day, a family friend surprised my mama and gave her a puppy. At first, it was really hard for me but the puppy was too cute and I just can't find myself hating it. Until such time, slowly... bit by bit... my dog phobia has been cured. Now, I have a really cute dog which I consider as my ultimate stress reliever.

When I lived in my cousin's place last year to work, I actually always think about my family especially my dog so I try to go home often. I wonder how it would be like once I go abroad without him. Anyway, this is for the best.. So, I'll be sharing pictures of my ultimate stress reliever below... our baby ARASHI!
