My first #Ulog: A day in the life of a BraceFaced Beauty..Yep That’s Me! :)

I had an interesting day today.
But it wasn’t really for the right reasons. My braces bracket on my upper second molar fell off two days ago and I went to the university dental school at the teaching hospital I work at to see if it could be rebonded.

That’s it..the little bugger!

When I got there I went through a lot of administrative bottlenecks (I’m a staff member you see..ideally I should pay half..but they didn’t let me 🤦🏽‍♀️) regarding whether I should get a folder or not and eventually I was asked to. It cost me 50 Ghana cedis which is ask approximately 5000 naira (about $14) which is the nonstaff rate. Ugh!

At the reception. I was given Tag 17 🤦🏽‍♀️

I was then asked to see a specialist and the first person that attended to me was really nice and all but I think he is a new resident because he didn’t quite know what to do and he kept asking for help which I don’t have a problem with because it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
He examined me and I got some extra information; apparently I have something that’s called a scissors-bite 🤷🏽‍♀️ Scissors ✂️ .

So it turns out that they don’t have my type of braces here in Ghana and I’m using the self-ligating brackets which are not used here yet. Hence I’ve been asked to return home (Nigeria) and fix my debonded bracket at my next appointment with my orthodontist..which is in July..if I get the chance from work (fingers crossed!🤞🏽).
I really tried not to be upset..(I guess)..if not for the fact that that
-I paid money for a folder and registration
-my hopes were raised (and subsequently dashed) and
-I spent two hours at the dental clinic..(which can be nerve wracking..ask the little kids. Well I know I’ve been traumatized by prior visits)
only to be told that I can’t be helped 🙄.

I want my money back.

NB: Scissors bite is a dental condition in which the upper posterior teeth jut outward while the lower teeth face inwards. In simple terms.
