#ulography: #21- Wednesday Walk - The View from Monks Mound
Monks Mound rises to 100 feet at its highest point and was a center of civilization for Prehistoric Indians, located close to St Louis, MO in the US. You can see the Gateway Arch in this photo.
This is a shot of the mound and its staircase to the top, taken from the Interpretive Center where we started our walk.
There are several signposts scattered throughout the area to give you some information about the historical significance of the site.
Here is a piece of a stockade on the site. I don't believe this is an actual structure left over from the prehistoric Indian civilization, but rather a replication. I'm pretty sure prehistoric Indians did not have use of nails and chicken wire to build their stockade!
Here's a view from another direction at the top of Monks Mound. You see the full stockade display in the foreground.
And no walk would be complete without a least one flower picture. These were growing at the top of the Mound.
It was a long walk back to the parking lot after climbing all those stairs, but we were greeted by a family of ducks watching us from a nearby pond.
I hope you enjoyed accompanying me on a Wednesday Walk photo shoot, sponsored by @tattoodjay!

What a beautiful area, looks a good climb to the top of the Mound but worth it for the views,
I think the nails and chicken wire are a good clue that this is not an original stockade
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)
Yeah I'm not sure what the point was of just sticking that display out there. There was no plaque or anything explaining. But it was an interesting walk.

I wonder if it was just an idea of an individual or group for fun, it is something different for sure
