ULOGS 16--DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES ( WHAT ABOUT THEM?)
The end of the session's exam ( promotion exams) started today in my School. I thank God for his help all through. Lectures are over and exams just commenced today.
To a very large extent, work is reduced except when our subjects are written, then marking resumes. So after work today, I relaxed with an old film i had seen before. I still love it and can watch it over and over again. It is title "DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES"
It may not be your kind of movie but let me tell you why i love watching it again and again.
LESSONS
- FOLLOW YOUR PASSION
A lady there in the movie, (Bree) enjoys cooking. She was a perfect cook. She took a step forward and made a cook book and then teamed up with a friend to run a catering business, thats how she became a household name. She became successful because she followed her heart and did what she loved; cooking. Her passion.

2.VALUE TRUE FRIENDSHIP
Each of the women had different family problems, yet they enjoyed comfort from true friendship. They say true friends are hard to find, theirs was easy.. I learnt that friendship is better than riches
Those women are really desperate. A lot going on on their mnds and their homes. They were all friends but none could confide in another. Instead they looked for desperate means to cover it.
3.BE STRONG
. The movie taught me that i can be stronger than i can be. Every one of the ladies had disappointing partners, yet it didnt destroy them like i thought, rather they all licked it and forged ahead with life. This is confidence. I learnt I should always look at the bright side of life, all the time, no matter what comes my way.
4.YOU CAN FIND TRUE LOVE MORE THAN ONCE
Many fall in love and it works out for them. The partner become whom they love and loves them forever. But in the movie, of the Ladies had many relationships, one at a time though but each one gave her much love ( maybe to compensate for the demise of the other preceeding it, I wouldnt know). But in truth, nothing is less special if you are in the second, third of fifth marriage. True love will find its way any time.
- YOU CANT HAVE IT ALL. -- GOOD CAREER AND A WONDERFUL FAMILY?
There can never be a perfect balance between family and career. One of them will always come first. For the perfect mums who try to do both and more at a time, they find that one is being neglected. At a point in life especially as a woman, one needs to decide the role she especially want to play. Many have chosen family and combine it with working at home rather than a career that leaves your family at the mercy of house maids. The choice is yours.
To me the movie is interesting with lots of lesson. This is enough to learn in one post, i suppose, so i beg to stop here.
However, the name of the movie DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, how come? Well just like we should not judge a book by its cover, we should not judge a film by its title. On the one hand, a house wife could be desperate to see the family succeed. She could be desperate to make her kids the best in the environment. On the other hand, She need not be a desperate housewife. How can she avoid being desperate at any point in time,? I like to talk about that next time.
