What's up SteemFam!

How Have Ya Been?

I haven't been as active in our #STEEM home lately because I've been #homesteading and #steemcrafting.

I won't say which of those two I've been doing the most of, but if you see my guilty and slightly ashamed face, you can guess...

The Shit Show

Things got a little crazy here in May. Our whole family came down with this nasty stomach bug, and at the exact same time our septic system went down. This was on May long weekend, and our landlord couldn't get (or didn't want to get) it pumped until the Tuesday.

Bless Oma and Opa, they took us into their home and wow, I bet they had PTSD after because we were not good company. I don't even want to reminisce about the places that got puked on and in...oh my...so much Mr. Clean...

In the Garden

All of the sunflower seeds I planted (about a hundred) rotted in the ground, so I had to replant them. The holes were already dug though with the compost in them, so it was much faster work. The only thing that sucked was that the black flies had hatched (which was why I tried planting them early, I thought I could outsmart the black flies). Well, they got their meal.

It's been just raining and raining though, every day except 1 for the last couple weeks. I'm a bit concerned about this new planting now too.

We tried hatching some chicks, and now they are 4 days overdue and still don't have a chick. One was born but it died :(

How has your weather been #STEEMFAM? Your garden? Any good drama lately? Let me know in the comments!

Glad to hear you are all on the mend and back in your own home.
Not sure how your septic tank is set up. Ours has 2 chambers which I built myself out of an old water storage tank. We use a submersible pump in the side which is just black water to use on the garden.
So we really do water our own plants 😁

The one here is very large apparently, it was never pumped since it was put in, in 2002! Nice job on building your own system Andy and utilizing it to its fullest potential too :D

Cool to see you back!

And you as well Mr. Old-Guy-Photos! <3<3<3

Ohhhh, man! So sorry about septic paired with stomach bug! What awful timing!! ;.;
Don't feel guilty ma'am, you need a rest after all that!!

*goes back to steemcrafting guilt free :) heheheeee!!!

What's #steemcrafting? Not getting any results but this post about it.

LOL I should be saying Playing SteemCraft but I just gotta say things my way I guess :D :D :D Here's the description: https://steemit.com/minecraft/@kryptokayden/want-mine-steem-by-playing-minecraft-yes-you-can

Way cool! Wonder if @dlux-io is behind/below that?

It sounds like that thing we call... life happened to you. Hey, sometimes it gets the best of us but we just bounce back and get after it again.
I lost a whole box of beets this year if that helps you feel any better. Between my ducks jumping up in the box and these pesky sparrows I don’t know who did the most damage.

Warning... don’t look at my recent post if you have been dealing with rain for a long period of time. Stay away... lol.

More chickens??? No luck though eh... that sucks!! Keep at it and it will happen. Just like those sunflower seeds... don’t give up.

I'll be right over :) I love torture!

Sorry you're having such a rough Spring. That sucks about the septic system. One or two people can get by with buckets but add a few kids and germs... I'm glad you had good family nearby!

I just realized I haven't posted anything in months. It's been a rough spring for us too. Had to remodel the bathroom ourselves after a tradesman destroyed it. Then this week our oil tank started leaking. Grateful we got someone to fix that in a hurry. $3000+ later...

Whoa Winston, that explains your absence lately for sure. Once the trauma is over and you've processed it all, you can give us the juicy Winstony details I hope! :) What a nice tradesman...I am really curious to see what he did!

Yea...been a tough spring here too. Way behind on planting, and the peas and carrots I finally did get in the ground haven't even hinted at sprouting up yet.

All this global warming is getting pretty depressing...as are the #bloom down votes! B.S. is gone though...?

Hopefully we get an extended summer from this cold winter and slow moving spring :)

herbal Schnaps like Jägermeister would help. German Flour soup (boil water while adding in more flour and stir constantly until you have some goup) or Chao/Bubur (Asian rice soup) would be good food (add only a handfull of rice to a pot of water and stir it once in a while while cooking until its also a goup, add vegetables mushrooms shrimp chicken or chicken intestine to it) are good for an unsteady stomach.

These are all new remedies to me thank you for sharing your wisdom @maxdieg! Here they say apple juice, dry toast, plain rice. Yours sounds much more enjoyable!

Sounds like you've had a funderful time, lately. Like you went down a rabbit hole, but that rabbit hole was just someones diarrhea filled asshole. Hope you're feeling better at least, yo.

Classic deadspace <3 TY I always feel better after our talks xo

If you need anymore of a pick me up I made a post with a short video bitching about the greaaat weather we've been having here yesterday. I'm sure you'd get a kick out of me yelling like some sort of turbo neanderthal.

Back doing chickens this year. Got the meat birds in the freezer and picked up my laying hens a few days ago. I am not even trying to door an outdoor garden around here any more, tired of feeding the voles and grasshoppers and not myself!

It should be a stress free year without battling the critters for your food, nice to take a break from that heartache once in a while hey? Glad to hear you have your freezer filled and some egg layers back :) Cluck cluck <3 <3 <3 Thanks for stopping by @fishyculture!
