We Heard the Call for Help: We Responded

in #upfundition5 years ago

Hello to all Steemian readers!

A blessed Friday to you all.

Our apologies that we were very tied up with a soon coming project with a possible collaborating team of very heart warming young people, and we are so happy that @zord189 is one of the core team.

However...

Today we are not sharing about this soon coming project; rather we are sharing a horrific incident that happened in one of the aboriginal villages very close by to the capital city of Kuala Lumpur.

Clearing works are ongoing after trees fell on five houses in Gombak yesterday. NSTP/ASYRAF HAMZAH_

KUALA LUMPUR: Eight people were reportedly injured when trees fell on five houses at the 17th mile, Gombak here today.

(Credits to News Straits Times Malaysia, this was in one of the aftermath disasters in the district of Gombak)

The call

We received a call of a pastor of a Gombak district aboriginal village seeking food aid to help the families who were affected by the storm in March 29. It has been really bad and many of the houses are badly damaged that will take time and effort to rebuilt; and within this period it was harder for them to sustain with fulled bellies.

Here are some of the photos we received from the pastor

(after we asked to see the situation there)

Some of the hilly area had some landslide.

This house was hit by a tree into the inner kitchen...

This tree hit another house's open air kitchen...

(Please note that many aboriginal families cook in open air, or open air shaded area)

This was from another victim's house. Our apologies for the bad resolution. Not everyone had a high res smart phone.

Taking Action

After getting more information by engaging with the pastor who supported the aboriginal villagers, we found out that there were 20 families effected.

We gathered whatever we had left in our storage, with some spices included and packed 20 essential items for temporary relief.

In the mean time, we received a few cartons of mayonnaise and barbecue sauce that is only expiring in 3 month's time which will be useful for as extra flavouring for cooking for the centers.

And during the day there was an anonymous donation of eggs left at the door step in the morning!

There was no name, no signature. Just these crate of eggs. This will be wonderful for the centers to receive; at least the kids will have at least a nice egg for a meal. We hope that there are enough to also bless some to the rehab centers too; as nutrition is good for recovering and rehab.

We are currently just so grateful and blessed that there were some resources coming in when the food bank kept running out of resources to provide as much help as we can; and know that your contributions here are also not wasted. We will be seeking local crypto buyers later to exchange whatever we have gathered at one go when we have enough.

But right now we are just giving thanks all the time.

In closing I would like to share something that struck my heart when I read it.

Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you. - Luke 6:38

Sometimes we just have to step forward the fear of losing out when we give; and when that happens, miracles of flowing back can just be at the corner waiting for you!

Our coming future
We are very excited to be collaborating with an upcoming NGO who could help form a better ecosystem of contributions for the local donors, and once that is set we can formerly introduce them and see how this collaboration can benefit everyone, from under privileged families to donors.

Do stay tuned for more updates from us!
