The first amendment is designed to protect speech that you don't like.
The second is designed to protect you from an oppressive government
The third amendment is to protect you from the Military taking over your property.
The fourth amendment is to protect you from the Police
The fifth to protect you in court.
I could go on, but it seems from an outsiders perspective, anyways, that there are many folks wanting to trample on a few of those articles. If you give in on one, you will lose them all.

I just wish that here in Australia we had some of those freedoms and rights enshrined in OUR constitution. I am envious.
I hear ya, in Canada we do not have free speech, the government has taken that away, with "hate speech" laws. And guess who gets to decide what speech is hate...
Yep. Exactly the same in Australia. If someone could get offended then it's hate speech.
In Canada you can trash talk Jewish and Christian people till you are blue faced. But if you say anything about radical islam.... Well you're screwed. I may be screwed from this comment!
