Fun US coins to take a gander at

in #uscoins5 years ago

Here's some American money for some of you foreign collectors to take a peek at. I picked some up at the bank today for your visual entertainment.

Susan B Anthony dollar. This was minted between 1979-1981 then stopped due to poor public acceptance. Later it was tried again in 1999.

Original design called for lady liberty on the coin but Congress called for a real woman. Susan B. Anthony was a woman's rights activist in the late 1800s.

The reverse side is similar to an Eisenhower dollar and is in memory of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

This coin was not very popular because it was a similar size as a quarter and was easily confused.

Sacagawea Dollar. Known as "The Golden dollar" this is a copper based coin covered in maganese and brass giving it a golden color.

Sacagawea was a Native American woman that helped Lewis and Clark on their expeditition. Also not a highly accepted coin.

Kennedy Half Dollars. Though not especially rare these are cool coins because they are bigger than a quarter and silver ones can be found still. It feels like a shame to spend even the newer ones.

Presidential Dollars. These are actually gold tone like the Sacagewea coin. The color did not show up well in the pictures.

I know very little about the presidents shown other than Lincoln and Washington. If you are cutious about any of them or about receiving some in the mail, let me know.

Hey thanks for sharing. Ive started to find a interest in Silver and learning more about it. Going to buy some next week, mainly for investment purposes. I was thinking the best way for me to invest in is with ingots or coins. Cheers :)

I agree. Coins or ingots are easy to obtain and easy to sell if needed. They also have lots of cool designs to admire. Have you heard of the Monster-Raffle coming up? You can buy a Raffle ticket for 1 SBD and have a chance to win a 10 ounce bar with one ticket. There are quite a few entries as gifts. A win would be a great way to start a collection. After you get some coins or bars you may be interested in some pours that people are doing. I have molds for coins or bars and some others here do pouring as well.

Hey thats cool. Thanks heaps for the info. Will look into the raffle and check out the link

As per my Pocket Change Theory, all U.S. Coinage is going to do a 100 Fold, Moon Shot in "Spending Power" and be "Backed" by U.S. Bullion Coinage, in the very near Future... Check out my Last Blog...

then I have a good start!

Yes you do... Very nice indeed... If you have $50 in U.S. Coinage, you'll be able to turn it in for a One Ounce $50 U.S. Gold Bullion Coin... If you only have $35 in U.S. Coinage, you'll be able to buy a One Ounce Gold Round or Bar... Premiums may raise the price a bit...

Picked up $35 today just in $1 coins

As per my Theory, that will be the Melt Value of an ounce of Gold... In other words, if you have a one ounce Round or Bar of Gold, you can turn it in for $35 in U.S. Coinage...

1st time seeing it, thanks for sharing :)

Hello stranger. You are welcome.

I'm not a foreigner..but still love these! Hehhee

I never knew why the Sacagawea didn't get more interest!!! I always thought they were neat! :)

I always liked them. They never caught on. I think small metal dollars just never were as popular as the big metal ones. There may have been prejudice there as well either against women or American indians. Though the gold president dollars were never that popular.

That's very true. Done people also just don't like change... Hard to move them to something new lol

Pocket change is hard
tough for people to like it
It is something new
