Project details

My first project as a Davinci/Utopian translator was translating the Steem Whitepaper. You can read the final post here with links to all the translations I have done within that project. I noticed the Genesis Whitepaper had only been translated 37% of which no strings were yet proofread/confirmed on Crowdin.

The Genesis Whitepaper is interesting since it lays out all the initial thoughts on the Steem Blockchain, with the Whitepaper as I translated it before leaving out some aspects and/or tweaking some points due to gained insights. For me it's interesting to translate the Steem Whitepaper Genesis since the information is still fresh on my mind, meaning I will be able to translate quickly and do a little game of 'spot the differences'. By translating the Whitepaper I will also be reading the Genesis for the first time and I'm curious what I will learn.

Contribution

For now I skipped the first parts that were translated but not yet proofread. I started halfway where it says 'Consensus Algorithm' and started translating from there. The first 2 paragraphs where the same as in the current Whitepaper. Quickly I arrived at 'Mining on Steem' which is presently not done. This is all new information and it's interesting to read how the rationale behind mining was 'back then': mining was only interesting for those who saw a long-term value in Steem, since they couldn't immediately dump their mining profits to cover electricity and mining equipment. Miners therefore had to invest the money to cover these costs themselves, and believe this investment would pay off over time.

To be continued

I'll be out for SteemFest in a few days so I don't expect many or any translations in the next two weeks. I do look forward to come back to the project as quickly as possible though to see what I'll learn from this little game of 'Steem Whitepaper' versus 'Steem Whitepaper Genesis'.

Hey @altrosa, thank you for your contribution to the translation project for Davinci-Utopian!

After the translation you did for the Steem Whitepaper, proofreading the Genesis whitepaper is like coming home for me. You remain consistent in your translations, even though it's been a while since you've seen the whitepaper.

As always, this translation is of high quality, and there is never really anything noteworthy to comment on.

It is always a pleasure to be working with you.
Thank you and I will see you in Krakow!
