The Actifit Series - Actifit Development Update V.0.3.1 And other Updates [Episode 3]

Introduction

Today makes it just about six days ago that I made a post on actifit, summarizing all the updates done so far on the actifit app, beginning all the way from when it first started to the present. On that post, I gained a new user for the platform (verifiable user actually, as he made his comment on the post – maybe some others were gained but didn’t identify themselves with a comment). This new user installed and used the app which he was satisfied with except for one small complaint.

The Complaint

Our new user noted that on every step taken and every step count recorded by the actifit app, there was a notification sound which the phone made. This kind of sound could be quite annoying and our new user had to turn off his phone’s notification sound to entirely stop the noise.

He wasn’t the first to complain as a number of users had already complained and an emergency update was already being worked upon. Another complaint was in terms of the post data entry area. There were some slight problems with the entry of texts by users, as well as scrolling within the text area. This and that of the continuous beeping sound had to be fixed.

The Solution

This issue was majorly prevalent on the Android OS Version 8. Due to that, the lead developer working on the project had to work on the app, make these changes and send out an update which was tagged V. 0.3.1 of the beta app. With this update, all those issues were fixed and after I tested out the app, I noticed that all these issues were no longer there.

Conflicts With External Apps

To make their posts look better and more organized, some of our users were fond of editing their posts through other external platforms such as busy.org, esteem app and the steemit.com. This was great as the actifit tag hosted varieties of beautiful looking posts. However, we had an issue with one of the apps – esteem.

Whenever our users edited their posts through the esteem app, we then faced a situation where the post meta that had been created from our actifit app, was overridden by the app. This thus made it quite impossible for the voting bots to pinpoint those posts and upvote them either via the upvotes, or the AFIT tokens.

As it was not an issue from our end, we had to contact the Esteem team. So far, they have promised to work on this issue and send out an update soon. Every other steem front ends are working fine and we are yet to face any issues with them.

Missed Posts During Voting Rounds & Steemit Api Issues

While going through some of the posts made with the Actifit app, I came across a user who had noted that he did not receive an upvote on his post despite crossing the 10k steps count. We also dicussed this in our moderation channels and the lead developer noted that the issue was caused by the Steemit API - https://api.steemit.com. According to him, this API returns Gateway time out while the bot is running the voting rounds, thus causing the voting scripts to stop midway.

Despite switching to a different node, it also failed after a while just after a majority of posts made with our tag had been upvoted. We are yet to conclude on anything at the moment and would run the bot today. Hopefully, such issues will not occur and we will be able to reach and upvote all posts made during the time frame.

Actifit is Charitable! – More Charities Included

Actifit is fixated on helping charity organizations achieve their aims and objectives of helping the poor, reducing poverty rate and whatever each of them is focused on. Due to this, we have added two more charities to the ones we previously has there. This brings the list of the charities we support to five. The newly added two includes;

For all these, we have added a link to their steemit account so that you can go through their blog and see what they have been doing so far.

Donating is actually a choice and you can either opt in before posting by selecting the “Donate Rewards to Charity” checkbox or opt-out by also clicking on it if it was marked.

Once you select it and it is marked, only your actifit token rewards for that day are sent to the charity. You still get your upvotes for the day on your post. It will be the same way for subsequent charities except you unselect the box.

Decommissioning of our Actifit V0.1

Following the several updates to our app, we decided to decommission our V0.1 beta app. This is to kind of force our users to upgrade to the newer versions and follow the updates. Users with the older versions were not complying with the changes and edits that came with our newer versions.

Due to this, we will no longer provide support for that particular version of the app and as we continue to upgrade further, we will be decommissioning the lower versions one after the other. For our users who are yet to upgrade their app to the newest version, it will be of a very great benefit that you do so as soon as possible via the link provided – Actifit V.0.3.1.

Delegations and Rewards Sent Out.

The Actifit platform is a really great one and I am proud to be associated with it. So far, we have received SP delegations of different amounts from no less than 150 steemit users. These delegations have now pushed up our total SP to about 92,555 SP as at the time of writing this report. We have now gone on to distribute a little over 1.3 million AFIT tokens, as well as reward about 2,500 activities since Actifit came into existence.

Our Discord Community

The community of people around which a platform exists, remains one of the greatest factors taken into consideration when measuring the growth and success of that platform. So far, our discord community is increasing at an exponential rate and we are recording new users by the day.

At the moment, we have about a total of 292 members on the group out of which 13 are members of the moderation team, 3 are actifit sponsored athletes, 4 are ambassadors and the rest are members of the community. We are looking forward to more members and encourage users to promote us through any channels available to them.
