Project Details

Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that executes JavaScript code outside of a browser... Node.js allows the creation of Web servers and networking tools using JavaScript and a collection of "modules" that handle various core functionality... Node.js represents a "JavaScript everywhere" paradigm, unifying web application development around a single programming language, rather than different languages for server side and client side scripts.

In simple words, this project brings value to the open source community because it facilitates the creation of all sort of applications using JavaScript, and provides a lot of help and versatility to developers. If you want to know more about this project feel free to visit its website

Contribution Specifications

  • Translation Overview

This is my third contribution and I continued to work on the same folder called deprecations.md which is already 99% completed, I also started to work in the folder called path.md. In this opportunity, the strings were mostly about how to handle the different paths there could be when using Windows and POSIX (this term is defined below), and the different types of errors developers could encounter in each case. As it has been the case with every contribution, some words weren't translated because it would change the meaning of the text.

When working on this contribution I was able to learn the meaning of a few terms, for example:

POSIX: The Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX) is a family of standards specified by the IEEE Computer Society for maintaining compatibility between operating systems. POSIX defines the application programming interface (API), along with command line shells and utility interfaces, for software compatibility with variants of Unix and other operating systems. | Source

Parsing: Within computer science, the term is used in the analysis of computer languages, referring to the syntactic analysis of the input code into its component parts in order to facilitate the writing of compilers and interpreters. | Source

Path: A path, the general form of the name of a file or directory, specifies a unique location in a file system. A path points to a file system location by following the directory tree hierarchy expressed in a string of characters in which path components, separated by a delimiting character, represent each directory. The delimiting character is most commonly the slash ("/"), the backslash character (""), or colon (":"), though some operating systems may use a different delimiter. | Source

In the previous contributions, I included the definition of the following terms: deprecation, I/O - input/output, callback, and asynchrony
