Project Details
Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that executes JavaScript code outside of a browser... Node.js allows the creation of Web servers and networking tools using JavaScript and a collection of "modules" that handle various core functionality... Node.js represents a "JavaScript everywhere" paradigm, unifying web application development around a single programming language, rather than different languages for server side and client side scripts. | Source
In simple words, this project brings value to the open source community because it facilitates the creation of all sort of applications using JavaScript, and provides a lot of help and versatility to developers, so much so that well-known companies like Netflix, Paypal, and Uber (among many others) use Node for their online services.
Since Node.js is very easy to learn and it provides a lot of benefits for developers, there is a huge community of people involved with it, which is one of the reasons why this project is available to be translated into several languages (in crowdin, one of the best translation platforms in the web, this project is available to be translated into 33 different languages, Spanish being the one corresponding to this contribution), the ultimate goal in translating Node.js is to make it easier for developers from any country to start learning about this project in their own native language.

Contribution Specifications
- Translation Overview
This is my #40 contribution to Node.js, the Spanish team is progressing nicely and right now we have completed 36% of the entire project. In my previous contribution we were at 35% so in the last 2 days we managed to translate an additional 1%.
I am working on a folder named CHANGELOG_V6.md that contains all of the information regarding the changes that were applied to Node.js V6, and after finishing this contribution the folder is 82% completed.
When translating the content of this folder it is important to always pay attention to the meaning of technical terms and abbreviations, because it is very common to encounter them when translating the strings that have the instructions for the changes. This type of string belongs to the commits section, which is also the most important section of all, not only due to the number of words we will find here, but also because the changes themselves are certainly the most important content of the folder.
Every different version inside this folder has several sections, besides the already mentioned commits sections, there are also the introductory paragraphs, and the notable changes, however, not every version will have every single section, sometimes there will be a version without notable changes, and other times without any introductory paragraph.
The one section that will always be there is the commits section, there is only one exception with version 6.14.1 that has no commits section, and that happened because there was a mistake with the 6.14.0 build that needed to be fixed, and version 6.14.1 was exactly that, a quick and easy fix for a simple mistake.
In this particular contribution, the majority of the strings I translated were from the commits section as expected, these strings have a particular structure they always follow, and the way they are written is also very peculiar, because besides using imperative verbs most of the time, they are also written in such a way as to share the instruction using the least number of words and letters that could possibly be used when sharing some information. This is another reason why there are always abbreviations when checking these strings.
Below I added a few examples of this type of string that belong to this contribution, as well as the Spanish translation:
English
add internal link in GOVERNANCE.md
Spanish
añadir enlace interno en GOVERNANCE.md
English
don't convert arguments to numbers
Spanish
no convertir argumentos a números
English
change default port
Spanish
cambiar puerto predeterminado
When working on this contribution I was able to learn the following concepts:
Resource Acquisition Is Initialization or RAII: this is a coding method that basically links the computational resources that are necessary to execute a particular function to the corresponding object that requires said computational resources, this way, the availability of these resources is guaranteed.
Coverity: this is a brand of tools that provide help when it comes to analyzing code with the goal of making it easier to identify potential bugs or mistakes. It also helps in avoiding developers going like this:
In the previous contributions, I included the definition of these terms: deprecation, I/O - input/output, callback, asynchrony, POSIX, parsing, path, wildcard, wrapper function, stack trace, floating point value, error-first callbacks, transpilation tool, root certificate, little-endian, DNS rebinding, same-origin-policy, keep-alive behavior, stringification, arrow function, salt (cryptography), semver, lint, fixtures modules, newline, backporting, shell command, ES6 Classes , code refactoring, tarball, benchmark, type-check, deflate, char, aix, spawn, rehash, noop, rebasing, continuous integration, linkify, segfaults, IPC, libuv, toolchain, punycode, symlink, base64, interprocess communication (IPC), application binary interface (ABI), read–Eval–Print Loop (REPL), advanced Interactive eXecutive (AIX), GYP, Opaque binary blob (obb), symbolic link, destructuring, dotfiles, transport layer security (tls), realpath function, watchdog, continuous integration, smoke test, hotfix, data execution prevention (DEP), try/catch blocks, off-by-one error, carriage return, ESLint, hard code, and hook.
