Category summary

  • Week: 49 (from Nov. 29 to Dec. 6)
  • There were 5 contributions and all of them have a chance of being rewarded, or have already been rewarded.
  • The average score was 73
  • There were a total of 5 unique contributors in the category.

Average score

Last week we were really happy because we had a Staff Pick after several months. This week we had 3 Staff Picks! That is crazy.
We are delighted to see great contributions submitting their ideas again.
Although we had only 5 contributions, it was a good week!
The average score was 73, 5.5 points less than the previous week, because 2 contributions got a score of 50 or less. We need to focus on these posts.
The good thing is that one of those contributions was made by an user who was active in the last month and he/she is improving. His/her first posts got bad scores (~20-30), and his/her last post got 55 points. I think that he/she is learning from his/her mistakes and his/her next contribution will be better than the last one.
Today is the beginning of the second round of the mini contest!
Remember that upvotes are never guaranteed.

We had three Staff picks! Woohoo!

Using a slider with the Utopian questionnaire by @amosbastian
[Utopian Rocks Browser Extension] - Highlights & contributions when new tab is opened by @tobias-g
SIP001 - Non Fungible Tokens in STEEM by @upheaver

Read them all! Those are really good examples of how to made great contributions. But, in my opinion, the one made by @tobias-g is the best, because he followed the template, and I love templates.

Mini contest

Prize: 5 STEEM every month (If more contributors are participating, I will increase the prize).
How? Submit a contribution to the Suggestions category. A contributor can submit more than one contribution per week. If your contribution got a score higher than 50 you get points. The points of Staff pick and Highest score are not cumulative.

  • Points:
    • Staff pick: 5 points
    • Contribution with the highest score (below the Staff Pick): 2 points.
    • Contribution with the second highest score: 1 point.

When? At the end of every month I will send the prize to the winner.

Second round: December

Common mistakes and how to fix them

source

The aim of this section is to show you the most common mistakes found this week. Followed by a short description and some tips when applicable. I split the section in two: Contributions with a score of 25 or less and Contributions with a score of 50 or less.

1 - Contributions with a score of 25 or less

1.1 - The impact on the functionality and usability of the project is low

If the overall of your post is excellent, but your idea has little impact on the functionality and/or usability of the project, you will get a few point less. Try to suggest unique, original and useful features.

2 - Contributions with a score of 50 or less

2.1 - The quality of the mockups/images could be better

Mockups are really useful to explain an idea. We (and most of the users) are not Graphic designers. We do not expect high quality images, but few details would transform a poor mockup in a great one. We have excellent graphic designers in our community, use our Discord server, share your images, ask for help. They will guide you to improve your mockups.

2.2 - The proposal is not detailed enough

The proposal should be as informative and descriptive as possible. This will help the project owner (and the people who read your post) to understand your suggestion. Avoid being vague about the benefits of your idea.

Interesting open source projects

source

In case that you want to contribute on the Suggestions category but do not know any project, check this list.

1 - Steeditor

Steeditor is an editor which enables to add posts to the Steem blockchain. (...) it lets you change every possible property of the post. (...) Did you know that you can share the post reward with anyone (via beneficiaries)? Or that you can set a maximum accepted payout for a post? Or that you can set up a custom thumbnail for a post that will not be shown in the post body? This is a great opportunity to learn stuff.
Steeditor also helps in managing drafts.

2 - Utopian Rocks - the Browser Extension

The Utopian Rocks browser extension aims to bring an easy and un-invasive experience of submitting posts to Utopian through the steemit.com (and soon busy.org) frontend.
Utopian Rocks - Extension aims to perfect that exact experience without interfering into other fields of the steem blockchain and the steemit frontend, and it offers the unique opportunity to easily submit the contributions to Utopian without enforcing a 1% cut of the beneficiaries.

3 - OBS Studio

OBS is a free and open-source software suite for recording and live streaming. Written in C and C++, OBS provides real-time source and device capture, scene composition, encoding, recording, and broadcasting. Transmission of data is primarily done via the Real Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) and can be sent to any RTMP supporting destination, including many presets for streaming websites such as YouTube, Twitch.tv, Instagram and Facebook. Thank you for another comprehensive report. Indeed, last week was a remarkable week. Three staff picked contributions in a week. Wow! That has never happened in the past.
I am glad the category picked up a bit, and I hope more quality contribution continues to roll in.
The mini-contest could be more competitive this current month. Having three guys on the same point and position. Well, I have a question.
What if those three guys on the same point ends with a draw point, ( could be 10,15 or something) how would you deal with something like that?
Thank you once again, you are doing a pretty great job!

Please note that while the CM hasn't changed the footer, I am not scoring #iamutopian posts based on the questionnaire. They have their own metric, and that will be the case until we go live with the new guidelines and new questionnaire, which will be comprehensive enough to reflect these types of posts.

Your contribution has been evaluated according to Utopian policies and guidelines, as well as a predefined set of questions pertaining to the category.

Thanks @tykee!

What if those three guys on the same point ends with a draw point, ( could be 10,15 or something) how would you deal with something like that?

I was thinking the same. Maybe, I could split the prize and give them 2 STEEM each. Or maybe 5 STEEM each? What do you think?

Splitting the prize for winners would be perfect and also economical.

Thank you for your review, @tykee! Keep up the good work!

Congratulations! Your post has been selected as a daily Steemit truffle! It is listed on rank 4 of all contributions awarded today. You can find the TOP DAILY TRUFFLE PICKS HERE.

I upvoted your contribution because to my mind your post is at least 12 SBD worth and should receive 105 votes. It's now up to the lovely Steemit community to make this come true.
