Details

Let me give you a brief overview of this design. Moonlight is an experimental optical music recognition engine, this opensource project that reads PNG image(s) containing sheet music and outputs MusicXML or a NoteSequence message. So I decided to give my contribution designing this logo for this project.

For the concept I get inspired in the keywords moonlight and music, so the circle represents the full moon, and the arc represents one of the phase of the moon the waning crescent, for the music keyword I create a sheet music notation, where the music note looks like the letter M of the moonlight .For the colors I used red and a darker red, for the sheet music notation I used the white.

I chose Futura Md BT as a font because it is simple and fits well with the logo.

Benefits / Improvements

• Moonlight did not have logo before, the brand new logo bring new identity to this project;
• It´s modern, original, eye-catching and easy to remember;
• Font is also clearly readable but neat as well;
• Understandable in small sizes and with great monochromatic versions.
• The owner was very pleased with the design and it is already merged in the master code of the repository and in the readme file.
