Collect

Contribution Specifications

JabRef is an open source project where everybody is free to contribute on Github and to help with its translation on Crowdin.
The Italian language mod assigned to me the translation of the last strings from this project.
The Italian translation was started months ago by some guys that are not in the Davinci team and they left 600+ untranslated words.
The project is only composed of 1 file named: JabRef_en.properties, and it has a total of 7375 translatable words and if done rightfully the translation should not be really hard.

This project is on the Utopian Whitelist and it's also looking for translation in other languages, so if you are in the Davinci team of translators I invite you to translate it into your language as well.

Translation Overview

The translation of this last strings from this project was a bit harder than I expected and I needed more time in order to complete it.
This was mostly due to two reasons:

1. I didn't translate the whole project so it was harder for me to understand some technical words and to choose the right word to use for the translation.

2. The other translators that worked on the project were not part of our translator teams so it was impossible to communicate with them. The same happened with the project owner, I requested the context on some strings and I didn't receive any answer so far.

However, after doing some online research and studying the project I managed to translate all the untranslated words and I'm waiting for the review of my language moderator.
One advice that I can give to other translators is:
Do not leave behind to many words when you don't understand them, because in the end you or your colleagues will find yourself having all those words in a single contribution and this will take a lot of your time. Deal with your problems as they arise.

Some examples of the strings I've translated

• Some appearance settings you changed require to restart JabRef to come into effect.

• Convert to BibTeX format (for example, move the value of the 'journaltitle' field to 'journal')

• Show console output (only necessary when the launcher is used)
