Why Esteem is The Best Dapp to connect to steemit for Newbies; #Part 3, Advanced Voting, Exchange and Transfer Activities.

in #utopian-io5 years ago

Today's blog will be an extensive review of voting, transfer, and exchange on the Esteem app. On my first blog on this series, I talked about its user profile and why esteem has a more favorable interface for beginners than steemit. On the second blog, I looked at some advanced posting features that are available on esteem like schedule and drafting. I also looked on advanced ways to surf the steem blockchain for your favorite posts and never lose track of them by using the bookmark feature.

On today's' post I'll be looking voting and steem wallet activities.

Voting On Esteem

Voting is one of the core activities on the steem blockchain. It is infact the best means to mine more steem. Constant and proper voting by steem users will lead to a direct increase in the reward pool. On part 1 of this series, where I compared the esteem app to Facebook, I also compared voting to liking on facebook. Now on steemit, as a newbie, all your votes on a post are fixed at 100%. To maintain a good voting power, you should do a Max of 10-12 100% votes in a day.

Esteem has created a better voting interface for steemians with a voting slider. On steemit, you only get the voting slider when you have up to 500 sp. That isn't fair, especially for beginners. Voting a post is specifically to reward that post, but even if you do not have enough SP, I love to see it as a sign of appreciation for the post. With hundreds of quality contents posted on the steem blockchain every day, you'll definitely love more than 10-12, so I think reducing your VP(voting power) will be a better way to vote more.

The voting slider used to be at the settings page before, but to make it more convenient and for easy changes in VP as you vote different posts, you just long press the vote icon and the slider will pop up. A single tap on the vote icon will give you a 100% upvote.

Transferring Steem & SBD on Esteem

The Esteem transfer page has some additional features which makes it better to use. There are 3 major additions to the esteem transfer page, which include;

  • Ability To Transfer Sp: On steemit you can only transfer steem and sbd to another account. On esteem, you can transfer Steempower to another steem user with your available steem. It is more like you are powering up for another user with your steem. This is a good way for whales to show support to minnows. Aside delegations, you can power up for them which you will no longer be able to withdraw.

  • Use of QR code: On esteem, you can send and receive steem, sbd and Sp with your QR code which will be visible on your transfer page. To send or receive funds with the QR code, you click on the Qr code icon in the username field, then you scan using your camera.

  • Use Of Escrow: Esteem supports and acknowledges that there are escrow services on the steem blockchain. An escrow is meant to be a safe channel to pass through when trading with a stranger so as to avoid being scammed. The escrows are meant to be trusted people with good reputations.

Esteem Exchange

It would be better if this was edited in the mobile app. Instead of Exchange, it should bear exchange tracker. No trading goes on on the esteem exchange. Unlike the steemit internal market, esteem only shows buy and sell orders and shows some recently filled orders. It would be really awesome if esteem could also access the steemit internal market or create its own internal market. So long as its security is safe, the trading will be fully dependent on the users.

Esteem already has quite a lot of adopters, so trading will definitely be active if esteem could create an internal market.

Some Extra Features on Esteem

  • Push Notifications
This is a good way of staying in touch with your steem account. On esteem you can set activities you will love to be notified about. Notifications help you stay active. For instance, a notification of a comment so you can quickly reply the person will keep your blog active and keeps the conversation on your blog interesting with quick replies.

  • Pin Code Lock
This is an important feature since esteem keeps you automatically logged in and never requests for your password again to broadcast an action. So anyone who has access to your esteem app will be able to access your steem funds. To avoid things like this, it's advisable to use the pin lock feature so you can only access the account after inputting your pin. It would have been awesome if esteem could also make use of the local security measures already on your device, for example, fingerprints, eye scans e.t.c.

CONCLUSION

Overall, Esteemapp makes user experience to be fun. It kind of breaks down the complications of using Steemit. That's why I always refer to it as the best place for newbies to start. This is the last part of this series, if you had followed from part 1, you would appreciate all the work and features imputed into esteemapp and why you would love to explore those features. Although it's not yet in a perfect state as there are active developments carried out everyday on the app, it's a good app.

Hello, @tony-duke!

Thank you for another informative blog post about Esteem. The post is also well-illustrated with quality screenshots. Keep up the good work.

Once again, I think that you did a good job on the content side. The post is detailed and extensive, and includes significant information about the platform and its key features described in your review. However, I must admit that I wanted to read some more about your personal knowledge and views. You certainly went into detail regarding the key points of your text, but I think that this would have been a stellar post if you had somehow managed to combine the information presented with your personal experience.

That said, the writing of this post was not good enough, I'm afraid. There were serious issues of grammar and style, making your text difficult to comprehend at times. I would advise you to consider using grammar checker software in order to enhance the readability of your texts. The paid version of Hemingway or Grammarly will serve you well in composing clear, mistake-free writing.
