Project Details

The Curious Expedition is a rogue-like expedition simulation set in the 19th century. It's the first game by indie developer Maschinen-Mensch. The game is available on Steam, GOG, Humble Store and at the official homepage http://curious-expedition.com. The game has been regularly updated through out the last 2 years. A list of all the updates can be found here. For information on modding the game, go here . [source and more info]

Contribution Specifications

  • Translation Overview: This is a really large project, approximately 80.000 words and obviously it's gonna take me a while to finish. In each part I plan to translate anywhere from 700 to 1200 words. Most of the translation is very easy as there are few, if any, technical terms.
  • Languages: The project is being translated from English to Greek.
  • Word Count: According to Crowdin, for this part I translated 1100 words. Since most of the strings translated were part of the in-game dialogues there were only a handful (1, maybe max 2%) that were left in the original language, e.g. screenshot.

Note: You can see a bigger number of words in the screenshot below, but they are not yet approved and will be (hopefully :D) counted on my next contribution.

Thank you for contributing to the Davinci-Utopian translation project @trumpman!
This was the 4th contribution we have received from you.

You are currently working on the Curious Expedition, a game that, even though it may not contain difficult terms and vocabulary, is one of the biggest projects a member of our team has ever tried to work on (almost 80,000 words). Good luck on this difficult task!
When you started translating, a handful of strings were already submitted (but not approved or voted) by another translator irrelevant to the Davinci-Utopian project. You have gone through them and checked them for any corrections that needed to be made, you have even fixed a few of them that were problematic.

In this first part you have completed:

  • your translation follows very close the original (English) text
  • you adjusted the language style remarkably to the game’s philosophy and I hope you keep it up the same way in your next contributions
  • you have no grammar, spelling, syntax or punctuation mistakes

Your presentation post is correct as well.

I will note again that I was impressed by your language style and choice of words that kept the atmosphere and feeling of the game without spoiling the original (English) text or making your translation sound weird in the target (Greek) language! Well done!

Thank you once again for working with us! We are looking forward to seeing more of your translations in the future! This project is really a delight to work on! :)
