How Do You Rationalize Celebrating "National Farm Animal Day"?

Every year on April 10^th, USA observes National Farm Animal Day.

National Farm Animal Day was created in 2005 by Colleen Paige, a vegetarian and an animal rescuer. It was created to raise awareness about the plight of farmed animals. In words of Colleen Paige,

to raise awareness about the plight of slaughter animals, as well as to find homes for abandoned and abused farm animals

Personally, I'm against the purpose of instituting such a day. To use the term "slaughter animals" is derogatory in itself.

Of course, I advocate animal liberation but why only rescue abandoned and abused farm animals? What about other farmed animals? Isn't the practice of farming animals an abuse in itself? Isn't slaughtering live animals a violation of their right to live?

I wonder how can one keep advocating the consumption of farmed animals and still take part in rescuing and adopting the abandoned & abused farmed animals. This scenario is very perplexing to me. How do Americans rationalize it is still an unsolved conundrum for me.

Billions of farmed animals are daily living in a captive, deprived and unnatural living conditions. They are tortured, mutilated, drugged, raped, exploited and mercilessly slaughtered at the tender age for human consumption.

What sort of love you can shower on these innocent sentient creatures by visiting farms and petting or feeding them for a day? Won't it be more logical to stop consuming the meat and other animal products that comes out of an animal farm?

Only refusal to consume all kinds of animal derived products can help their liberation from human slavery. That's how one can shower his or her true love on them. Otherwise, you're deceiving yourself by being nice to them only for a day and contributing to their abuse rest of your life. This will never end your inner conflict and disturb your ultimate peace.
