Going Green in Guadalajara
Since we'll be spending more time in Guadalajara than any other city to date, we've been on the lookout for the best ways to get around. While in Guadalajara, up until now, we've walked to most destinations. Sometimes we'll take an Uber but more often than not, we set out on foot.
In today's video, we attempt to navigate Guadalajara's bicycle program. Their Mi Bici program is a super convenient bike rental system at a very reasonable price. We faced some challenges while trying to sign up since we're still learning the language. Check out the video to see if we crash and burn!

Actually, it is more beneficial to our health if we use a bicycle and it is fun too. If the places are just near and are a bicycle away then it is better to have that transport.

Lol. I'm sure they were laughing a bit at our struggles but I think they appreciate that over people who don't try to learn the language at all.
The walk there wasn't through the best part of town. Most of Guadalajara that we've seen is much nicer than that!
I would've loved it if they had a bike system like this while we were living in Phoenix. It's so convenient!
we have them in seattle and people are leaving them everywhere but in their docking station
its a beautiful city so biking should be a great experience!

I really love this idea of MiBici. Laska would be the one missing out haha but you guys really deserve it. You can use that break. You practically walk everywhere and this should help and doing the yearly pass makes more sense financially.

That means they have their bike stations every 30minutes block since you can only go for 30minutes before you return it. That is pretty impressive I must say. They tried to cover every loop holes by the emergency button. I really love the idea behind this.

Haha today, we were just about to get on the bikes and Maddie was like "Should I risk holding onto the camera while riding? (to get footage) Or put it away?" I opted for putting it away because it's too expensive to risk breaking.
I wish more cities had a bike program like this! It's really convenient and such a great deal as compared to the prices of other things around here. Our rate of subscriber growth has slowed a little bit, so 5,000 by the 18th is still a lofty goal. Hopefully, we can get there!

I’d noticed those hire-bikes in the background of some of your other videos. You probably know there are similar schemes elsewhere around the world (the largest being Paris and London).
In Paris people love to hire bikes to cycle down the Montmartre hill but no-one ever wants to cycle back up (the scheme operator drags them back up en masse).
We've noticed that here in Guadalajara, there are popular pickup points and other places that are popular for dropping off. That means, there are often times bike stations that are completely full or empty. It seems that they have to put a lot of effort into transporting bikes from popular drop-off stations to popular pick-up stations. I imagine it's quite a complex system and there's an immense amount that we don't know.
I do not know about the bike system in Guadalajara, but we have a similar one in Mexico City. And here we do not follow the rules too much, it's just being careful and being aware of what happens around. Qué chido que ahora tienen las bicis para viajar :)
That sounds like our experience driving in Mexico. Rules seem to be optional often times, but everyone is very aware.

If you have not been in Mexico City you will see that it is much more chaotic but still beautiful
