๐๐ Antique Porn: DESKS ๐๐
NO NOT REAL PORN, ANTIQUE PORN! Lololol. Today at work I had an enquiry on antique desks and I had to take a few photos. Of course I got carried away and photoshopped the shit outta all of the images, teehee ๐๐
I decided to do a little post about them, they are both so beautiful, each so unique within their own genres.
First is this sweet little kneehole desk. It's quite small, about 70cm wide only. It's polished walnut with some hand laid inlay. For of those of you who don't know; an inlay is a piece of wood cut out in a pattern, and filled with another piece of wood, usually in a contrasting colour.
I love the little Art Deco inspired details on the small cabinet of the kneehole. Very cute!
The second desk is a little more manly, it's an old Naval officer's desk. Beautifully shone up Burmese teak, with a tooled leather top and polished brass joint connectors.
I'd love to do a proper English style library room with heavy carpets, this desk and loads of shelving full of leather bound books.
This desk probably dates to the early '30's, and was made somewhere in India.

Both are beautiful, but I'd take the officer's desk in a heartbeat. I have a desk near that old that was my grandfather's. Pre WWII for sure.

Those are two absolutely beautiful pieces. I would love to have the big teak desk. Iโve always wanted a desk with a nice leather pad built in. Iโm sure I could find the perfect spot for it.

Absolutely beautiful antique desk for real @princessmewmew. Love the craftsmanship in both pieces. The colors of the natural wood are amazing and the designs on the first piece are so beautiful. Thank you for sharing such lovely ancient art.

Now this is MY kind of porn :) I Love antiques and old buildings and antique clothes and old books and well the list goes on. I love this and it must be a joy to work around them. I used to be a buy for an antique shop once, it was fun to go to auction with another's cheque book ;)
yes, I also buy, and the auctions are quite exciting. I have to be careful though, if I buy something for too much, and the boss doesn't like it.... uh oh!
