I love the way you're bigging up steem without even mentioning it!
You would have thought that if a project is serious about getting off the ground as quickly as possible (which if they're serious, they should be) then they'd be looking at building on an already existing blockchain, hopefully steem.
I read this interesting (short) article by @jcornel yesterday, about the FED is suggesting that the proliferation of alt coins are the reason why BTC is struggling... not really sure if I think there's anything in it, or whether it's absolutely nonsense, but I've got this intuitive feeling that the FEWER alt coins are created in 2019, then the more upward pressure on the crypto market....
Intuitively I'd like to see consolidation and more people buying into and using what's already here.
Something I need to explore more is how app development takes place on other blockchains. I have no idea what the community vibe is like on ethereum or EOS for example.

I think the already established ones will be choosed more carefully by the investors, I think they will look more at the use case and the performance of the coin instead of just profitability. But of course there will always be speculators on the shitcoins too. ICOs has pretty much been dead in 2018 so yeah, new projects will probably struggle for liquidity.
Completely agree - we seem to have enough blockchain infrastructure projects now, in my view we just need that killer dapp that captures the public's imagination (and sign ups) regardless of which blockchain it's built on - although it would be nice if it was STEEM....!

I understand what your saying and I agree that after the wild wild ride of the bull run where whatever coins people bought they made money, initially, the sobering bear market caused people who entered the market in the late stages of the bull market to lose a lot of money. I agree that the next wave of investors will be more conservative and more risk averse then the first. I think this naturally means they will invest in coins which are older, battle tested or bear market tested if you will and coins with products or use cases which are actually in use. I think this type of analysis will be favorable for Steem and I hope it will actually be considered undervalued. I think this designation could increase investment as undervaluation implies a greater upside for appreciation.
I think the large number of DAPPS on Steem and it’s large user community will catch the eye of investors, both large and small, who do analysis.
I think the favorable press Steem has received so far from Weiss, China and DAPP comparison websites should help put Steem on the investors radar.

It probably won’t be that many ICOs in 2019 as in 2017 so those few ICOs thats coming will have a hard time to attract investors. Dapps will probably take off in 2019
