The import settings in this video are better than my previous video. I recommend using this one first for the method. I'll probably edit or take down my previous video but for now it's staying up because people would have trouble finding this one otherwise.

I may compile a binary at some time in the future with settings for several of the more well known bases to automate for VRChat import, but I'm going to try to talk to the VRChat team eventually f I do decide to go about this in this way or just leave it at this.

A tool could be made that skips unity entirely that uses deform body bases and some more general hair and clothing sets based on the same concept as an MMD model for more generic but personalized avatars - essentially a character creator like you see in mmorpgs.

See my previous video for even more details and some more information on piapro and MMD in general. This is the cleanest and best way to import an avatar into VRChat from a PMX/PMD you've made or that you've been given permission to use. (either directly or as part of the model readme).

The Resulting FBX can be taken into something else and edited more properly if you want, or you can edit PMX directly in Metaseq (english) or Clip Studio Modeler (even better if you speak japanese, but if you do I probably wouldn't have to show you this. :P )
