Friend or Foe

At times i sit and wonder if Civilisation is truly a friend or a foe. Our ancestors ate these for breakfast

But now we eat this

In the past, our parents use to be very active, they walked for long distances just to do their chores like going to the market, farms but now we bikes and cars to aid our movements
Our parents use to trek to streams to fetch water, wash cloths and even free their bowels but now we have water at home and flushing toilets.
With no lights, televisions, phones and video games our ancestors spent their evenings telling educative stories to their children and dancing, now everyone is glued to a screen.
Some people will call it evolving, enjoying, civilisation and the like, but with the increase in enjoyment, there is also an increase in illnesses, diseases like hypertension and heart diseases.
So i think aloud is this enjoyment worth the suffering.

If you look at pictures of people from just a little while back, say, 5 decades, you see strong, physically fit people, fine specimens of humans. Now when you look at people of today, they are gaunt, pasty, and weak, in both mental and physical aesthetics. I think the 70's to the early 80's produced the last of the strong, for the most part.

People like myself, from the 70's, to people of the early 80's see technology as something that aids us, not something that SUPPLANTS or IS us. We can almost all still do complex math in our heads, and NONE of us were even allowed calculators in class. Now kids are handed them to use for basic stuff. WTF!? We never had calculators for algebra, polynomials, and linear equations, nor any of the other things we had to learn in geometry, trig, and calculus. Well, maybe calculus.

Your mind is a muscle, use it. It needs to work hard to grow, as do your social skills and your physique. Get yourself a bike, any bike. Build your cardio so you don't die at 50 sitting in a chair playing WoW, surrounded by bottles of piss. Do you really want the medics to find you that way?

Strong mind, strong body, strong person.

A little over the top? Maybe, maybe not...

Wow!
