Salah Is African Player Of The Year, 2018

Egypt's Mohammed Salah has been named as the Confederation of Africa (CAF) Footballer of the Year for 2018.

The Liverpool forward won the award for the second year running, beating off competition from fellow Liverpool teammate and Senegal International, Sadio Mane.

Salah finished last season with 44 goals in all competitions and broke the Premier League goalscoring record with 32 goals in a 38-match season to win the Golden Boot.

Arsenal's Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang along side Mane and Salah made the final shortlist for the award. The trio were also named as the forward line for the CAF Best XI.

Expanding the Liverpool contingent, Guinea's Naby Keita was also named in midfield as well as Atletico Madrid and Ghana International, Thomas Apartey with Manchester City and Algeria winger, Riyad Mahrez completing the midfield in a 4-3-3 formation.

The Premier League continued dominance with Tottenham and Ivory Coast International, Serge Aurier as well as compatriot, Eric Baily who plays for Manchester United were among the four defenders named.

Juventus' Mehdi Benatia of Morocco and Senegal International, Kalidou Koulibaly who plies his trade with Napoli in the Serie A as well complete the back four.

The only African-based player in the CAF Best Eleven is South Africa and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper, Denis Onyango who was named the Best Goalkeeper of the Year.
