~ 126 ~ Walk With Me Around the Homestead in the Late Day Light

in #walkwithme6 years ago

Hello Steem Fam!

It's been a while since I took you on a #walkwithme. We're not gonna go far today, I actually have been really slacking lately and it's time to crack the ol' whip on myself, I'm getting to the point where I'm afraid of Heart Attack Hill again...

IMG_7489.JPG

But enough with the fear and self-loathing, let's look at some (just beginning to bloom) Lupins and other beautiful life sprouting up everywhere.

IMG_7491.JPG

IMG_7499.JPG

And Lilacs...they always remind me of being a child at my Gramma's house.

Still Don't Have the Heart to Cut the Lawn

The dandelion fluffs just look so great...I can't believe I used to abhor these (and ashamedly not too long ago either).

Here's A Couple More Beauties!

Stryder loves to go through the garden and eat dill, good thing it grows like a weed!

It's salad season again! Beautiful Kale. Have you ever had a kale caeser salad? They are so good.

IMG_7537.JPG

Honestly guys...the things happening on my front lawn garden are pretty savage. I have seedlings going wild. So much from last year seeded itself, I've only planted a few things the rest is all nature. To anyone driving by right now, it looks like a mess, but if they come back in a couple months they won't be able to believe their eyes...there are going to be thousands upon thousands of cosmos and poppies. In amongst all of that is lettuce, beans, peas, radish, kale, sunflowers, herbs and other flowers.

IMG_7530.JPG

Lettuces growing everywhere from the seeds that spread last fall.

Time for Mr. Oregano to get a haircut soon.

Happy Plant

IMG_7521.JPG

Sugar Peas gone wild...the ones in the photo below I didn't even plant, and they are no where near where I had them planted last year (they're on the lawn under the crab apple tree). The mysteries and wonders of gardening. Definitely an animal was involved, or perhaps fae.

IMG_7532.JPG

And speaking of under the apple tree, it's so beautiful there now that the petals have fallen off.

We Had a Frost the Other Night

And as you can see, a lot of our plants survived. And I will show you some that died, but I won't show you the dead tomatoes because the pain is still too fresh.

IMG_7522.JPG

IMG_7523.JPG

Dead cosmos, it's okay though because I only lost about a quarter of them. All the tomatoes are dead, not one survivor. Kicking myself for not continuing to check the weather, I really thought we were in the clear...the best lessons are the painful ones because they really sink in.

Let's End on a Happy Note

Dang. I'm sorry to read about the tomatoes. That really sucks. The worst part is that they are some of the more filling crops out there.

Are you planning on relocating the wild growth or just let them be?

I'll be leaving most of the jungle, though I do plan on going in there and doing some much needed weeding lol :) Still gonna procrastinate that for a while longer though bwa haahahhahaa! Yeah, gonna be buying some tomato seedlings too...

Oh, I do so love lilacs! Too bad they can't bottle that smell up(at least I haven't seen any, then again I live under a rock on the beach) I haven't be able to walk down to the beach in two months and I miss going for that walk! I can't believe you had a frost in June! What gives? The poor tomatoes...I feel your pain. Can you plant some more?

Awww...I wish for you to be able to resume your beach walks soon :'(

It'll definitely be a celebration for us all when life becomes peaceful for you again Ceci...

As for the tomatoes, I'll be on the lookout for some inexpensive transplants, or possibly trade some eggs for some!

I like trading! I hope you find some. A garden without tomatoes is indeed sad!

I can't believe that oregano! Or that you have a radish already! Wow!! 😮
I am sorry for your plant loss.
But wait ...we went on a WWM around your homestead and NO CHICKENS?!

They are shocked. Shocked and appalled.

Yes, my poor little Angels all confined to their chicken run right now...it's so much more fun taking photos of them when they are free ranging! The photo you sent me will do though lol~such a great one!!!

Mebee a strange place to reply but whatevs! Your posts often spark so much i want to talk about! Would be so fun to sit and chat and hear the kids playing about. Anyways, the screen & keyboard will suffice nicely! Your permaculture food forest is astounding!! That is so super cool! Oh, you have me craving kale ceasar salad! The flowers are and are gonna continue to be 🎶 beautiful!! Lilacs remind me of being a kid at grandma's house too! Sorry to hear about your tomatoes 😭 shitty. You remind me i should maybe consider the night time temps!! I'd be devastated to loose all of them. I never check the weather! Bah!! Last but not least....the reason i popped by your blog, is to say THANK-YOU! For your resent delegation. I am super slow to the draw, i just noticed it. So nice of you!!! I can't wait to pay it forward in the future when my sp is built up! You made my day. Have a wonderful day 🙌☕

Awww YAY for snuggy Gramma Lilac memories... <3 <3 <3 Thanks for all the enthusiasm and joy you bring me Jill, and I would love to chill with you one day too, damn why couldn't I have known you when I lived in Calgary and Edmonton.. :'( Yes, internet friends, it'll have to suffice... for now .... *shakes fist at sky

Re the delegation: One does not simply be one of the best Steemians ever and not have a slider bar! It is the least I could do to top you back up SiSTAR!!!!! <3 <3 <3 And I have no doubt you will be paying it forward when you are able to because that's just the kind of beautiful Soul you are!!

It's funny how things unfold! Though i feel connected to you through our mutual friend Billie! That really helps a lot. The runner beans are still growing well!!!! 🎶🎵🎶 Thank-you again for your kind nature. Delegation it's such a perk of the Steem blockchain!

Oooh brilliant, I'm so glad the seeds sprouted!! Remember to let a few beans grow nice and big and woody and save the seeds :) :) :) (hahaha like I have to tell you, I know you will, just had to say it anyway hahahaha) Love you Jill!!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 May they grow 15 feet high!!

Hahaha!!!! Glad you said it Phe...

Hey @lyndsaybowes what a difference a couple of months make .. those flowers look amazing. Sorry about the frost but it's so good to see all your other food coming up, it's so important that we learn to become self-sufficient .. I need to do some myself. Thank you for sharing!!

Thank you my friend, I feel like I'm slacking more than previous years, yet even a little is better than nothing. Do you have gardens ready to plant in? Will you be going with seeds or transplants?

Beautiful family and garden❤️

Hello how are you? how are the babies of Edgar (the cat) ... I like your publications, they make me take a walk ... I did not know the lupins, the first time I see them. The lettuces I love because the burgers, sandwiches, and Caesar salad are spectacular. You have a great sowing !!! God bless you, friend, and give you a lot of health. :)

Edgar is doing very well with her kittens. She brought them one by one, upstairs and into our son's room, way in a far corner haha. So I don't get to see them very often, only when I go visit, it's a very safe spot but hard to access lol. Smart Edgar. They are a week old and still don't even move really, just sleep and feed :) :)

Hi,
I really enjoy your walkwithme's (or is it here walkwithyou's?).

Cut or not to cut - that is the question!
Well, pro cut is: you get a clean & tidy lawn, but a meadow houses much more variety & life, is nicer to look at and you have much less work with. A compromise may be: you cut your lawn not completely: Leave blooming areas uncut. One or two weeks later when you cut your lawn again you can cut also these areas (because they're wilted now) you didn't cut the first time and leaving other now blooming areas uncut.

Have you ever tried butterbread with radish & chives (and salt). Delicious!

Hey, thank you for the great ideas @valkyrion!! I like them both, and especially that second one... MMM!!!!

Yay beautiful plants and flowers and people! Boo hard killing frosts :( My toms were in the greenhouse so they didn't die, but some cukes and pumpkin def did :(
STOOOOPID frost!
sending you love <3 <3 <3

Aww, noooooo....not the pumpkins and cukes!!! :'( :'( So I won't be the only one at boutilliers getting some last minute seedlings eh? I'll meet you there :) :) :)

Sending you tonnes of love too, I hope you're doing well, I'm looking forward to your next update my beautiful neighbour... <3 <3

Sometimes I'm like this... lonely, but happy.

nice to walk with you today @lyndsaybowes

Thank you for visiting me @yagoub! I am glad you resonated with the cannabis plant <3 xo

I can find resonated in everything... but not with the cannabis plant...
Because I need my mind so much. especially these days... hehehe ...
thank you @lyndsaybowes

Wonderful to see the spread of colour across the garden. It is inspiring to me to get mine rolling as I say every time. It is though maybe I need to see a post everyday to get me going haha. I have got my tomatoes outside now so little steps 💯🐒

Oooh thank you for your confession now I don't feel near as bad for being so far behind hahaha! Honestly, if it weren't for mother nature seeding all of my garden herself, it would be pitiful out there!!!! We can do this Vibe!!

For sure we can! I have seeds growing in side just lack the knowledge shit I need to water... this is what i'm up against haha 💯🐒
