With some few exceptions, the US Army personnel actually returned home on a civilian airliners just as individuals. ...There were actually NO parades or any form of marching bands of different soldiers..... Unless the US Marines were actually aboard the US Naval ships, they actually also returned the same way too...

The US Air Force personnel, the US Navy, and the US Coast Guardsmen, normally actually returned to the United States with their major ship or an aircraft.... the US Navy ships and the US Air Force aircraft would actually often have the military band playing some welcoming music to them (for the navy it was termed an "anchors away") as the warship actually gets prepared for the docking, or if the aircraft was about landing...

These two areas were known to be normally occuring on the military/naval base, and also the people waiting for them were always their wives, their family, their relatives, and their friends....

The Protesters were NOT actually allowed on the military/naval bases.... The returning individual (the army and the marines)when they are landing at the civilian International Airports were actually at the obvious mercy of the public....
