The Winter Is Back - At Least For Now
The sunny and warm weather of last week and the weekend in particular has given way to a cold and wet spell. It was sleeting heavily only moments ago.
That bank of snow has melted down to a third of its largest size. We'll see how much more of it we will get.
More wet white crap incoming.
Although it can make the streets and roads slippery again, the cold and wet spell we're having has one big thing going for it. The air is now much clearer and more breathable.
See that haze in this pretty picture? It's fine dust from grit and sand on the now dry streets, roads and pavements. Asthmatics are not having a good time right now.
Precipitation is good. The air is now fresh. Grit collection from the streets is in full swing right now. The job should be done in maybe a week.
By the way, is there an English word for wintery weather reoccurring in the middle of spring?

It's pretty normal for the time of year. The weather can be quite volatile. That's because the sun does not warm up the polar regions evenly. The oceans, and the Arctic Ocean in particular, are still very cold and partly covered with ice whereas the continents are quickly warmed by the sun. When you have large-scale temperature differences like that, it tends to generate strong winds and strong winds can move warm and cold pockets of air over long distances.
This is not normal to me! LoL
So, people are prepared for very cold weather.
