To be fair, in my previous government contractor career I actually had decent managers for the most part (and a couple very good ones), so this is much more satire than anything else. The problems of bloated defense projects and profit-over-principles that I had seen in that industry were usually more of a systemic and subtle nature. For those of us in the rank-and-file engineer and management positions, we usually just tried to do what good we could within the dysfunctional system we worked in.
Perhaps the upper-level corporate types felt the same way too, but being constantly subjected to the system of perverse incentives in that industry is liable to warp one's perspective and decision-making. And before you know it they've convinced themselves that schmoozing high-level military officers with parties, prostitutes, or cushy executive jobs with the company is "good for America"... 🤔
