Wednesday Walk - Vienna´s 21st District... This Morning!

Bright Sunny Day

The one thing I cherished today....it was freaking cold but the sun was shining! Hurray!
You see, it is seldom that we see the sun at this time of the season. Maybe I should say Central Europe is always covered with gray clouds. It is depressing sometimes as I come from a tropical country. But, what the heck, I´ve been living here for the last 36 years and have become used to it.

The cold wind swept my face when I went out of the door, I was shivering although the temperature was at 12°C. Glad I had my quilted vest on and a warmer scarf helped a bit. The roads have been free from the heavy traffic as it was almost 9:00 AM and the rush hour was gone.

I was on my way to the lab for my yearly check-up and passed-by the street we used to walk our dog. I stopped for a moment and parked the car right in front of this pathway. Here, I used to walk AKO, our rottie of 14 years. He loved it here because of the green grass that he snooped, probably smelling the aromas left by other dogs. This is a huge area meant for the pets that includes a dog training park. I do my walking here because it´s near our house and I walk through this pathway about 2 kilometers til the end to reach home.

The City administration planted thousands of trees and their effort paid off. We have forest-like areas that´s cool because the flora and fauna have now emerged with more birds tweeting and the bee population grew and grew.

DID YOU NOTICE THE CLEANLINESS EVERYWHERE ?

The cleanliness of the city is one of the priorities of the administration.The locals are disciplined to throw every single waste in proper garbage cans meant for it. This is not only in our district but in all of the 23 Districts of the city of Vienna.

We understood that a clean environment affects the health and mood of everyone. Of course, there are culprits who throw their waste anywhere, but the city ordinance says that fines will be issued to those who are caught throwing anything on the grounds.

The Tram and Bus Station and behind it is the Main Train Station of the District.

There was less traffic today on the main street as the rush hour was more focused on the exit to the highways. Below is the District´s "Town Hall".

I had a nice time today after the lab test and roamed around a bit to take these images.
