Weekend Recap

We had a fantastic weekend with Saturday spent at the beach, and Sunday spent at home hanging out and getting stuff done.

We met some family at the beach on Saturday and spent the entire day in Newport Beach. When we first got there, we played in the sand and surf building sand castles and getting wet. The water in California is quite cold and the surf is large in many areas (including where we were), so we didn’t go “swimming” per se, but waded around for a bit. We caught some sand crabs and Kendra enjoyed crawling around in the sand. My wife and I then played Spike Ball with my wife’s brother and his girlfriend while the kids napped. When the kids woke up, we got ice cream on a spot along the boardwalk and Jacob rode his bike there on the bike/running path. After a quick walk on the pier, we went out to dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory, which was a nice end to the day. We headed home after dinner to get the kids baths and in bed by 8:30pm. I filmed some of the activities on my action cam, so perhaps I will make a video, but for now, here are a few pictures from the day:

On Sunday, we watched some football after going to church, and then spent the afternoon playing around the house and doing a few chores. One highlight was a new caterpillar tunnel that the kids had a great time with. Kendra can’t walk just yet (11 months old) so the tunnel was a big hit with her:

Overall, it was a great weekend, but it sure went fast!
