The blanket was always left in a big heap after she was done. My father liked that about her. She was always so carefree like nothing in the world could bother her. It had been years since they first met. He invited her to the movies and they sat on the blanket, on the truck bed, arm in arm. The smell of her hair in his nose. The feel of her soft skin against his calloused hands. He proposed at her 21st birthday. They planned a family years later.
She was so beautiful, showing their love growing within her. She loved the feel of blankets wrapped around her.

The day she became ill, was the hardest for him to overcome. The Dr. said she would only have 6 months to live. She didn't even let that bother her, always saying she will never regret the times they shared together. She would wrap the blankets around her and sit in the chair by the front window, or on the porch, watching the grandchildren play in the grass.

He was planning a pet movie contest. he wanted the grandchildren to have one more everlasting memory of their grandma. They all brought their favorite stuff animals and set up a mini stage, using the porch railing as the backdrop, where they could stand while doing their shows. She laughed so beautifully as she watched them all perform.
Her eyes shone with all the love she felt. Seeing the smile in her eyes made dad happy to have done the little show. Just one more sweet memory for them all to keep. Grandma clapped after each one took their turns. Then they would go up to her and hugged her so gently.

The show ended and they all went inside for a lunch break, before each went their own way. He loved that the whole family lived within miles of home. Family time meant so much to her, so he wanted that to continue as much as possible.

He continued in this way until he discovered that he could not doubt one thing, her memories would be forever in the hearts of their 4 grandchildren and 3 grown children. It pained him to know that time would soon come to an end. They decided not to tell the grandchildren. There was no sense in upsetting them, she would tell us. Let them be happy, and always remember these fun times.

Three days after they held their pet show/contest, Sara wrapped herself in her favorite blanket for the last time. Dad went outside to see if she wanted a drink of coffee or tea. He knew by the look in her eyes, that she was gone. He slowly walked over to her, sat next to her on the swing, and cried. He grabbed his cell phone and texted Jake, to let his sisters know time has come.
He wrapped the blankets closer around her shoulders as he dialed 911.

Awwa. This was a tearjerker! I love the way you used the blanket at the end to wrap her when she passed. You did very well using the prompts. They were very challenging!

Thank you. :) Hope you had tissues available :)

Wow, this was gut wrenching. You did an amazing job. How amazing that they had the love for so many years, though. What a wonderful story.

Thank you. Yeah I have no idea where it came from. Maybe some long past memory, but idk. I may have to go jump into your stories. Been missing catching them.

Definitely a tear-jerker! Well done!
