Plaquemines wants sediment diversion damages guaranteed, asks for arbitration
The financial impacts of the proposed Mid-Barataria and Mid-Breton sediment diversions on Plaquemines Parish and its residents, including fishermen, must be understood before the state moves forward with their construction, parish President Amos Cormier said in a Thursday (June 28) letter to state officials.
Frustrating article to read if you care about the wetlands of south louisiana like I do, this Cormier guy is just standing in the way of a diversion project that desperately needs to be built, for what, politics? What happens if the diversion is not built, all the marsh and wetlands washes away anyway, that's a guarantee! Stupid!!
