What Happens When Busy.org and Facebook Have a Lovechild?

Well it seems the people over at Whaleshares took Busy and gave it to a designer and Facebook, threw it in the mixer and looked at what came out.

And, to be honest, the results are very nice.

Especially that editor looks good.

One of the great things the team have done is to separate the wallet from normal activities. This is a great security move because it allows people to never need their active key when being on WLS itself. The wallet is now a stand-alone app.

As can be seen in both screenshots, voting for witnesses has also been prominently integrated in the design.

I’m not that big on WLS because I tend to spend more time in topically more focused communities but everyone should have a look at it. Especially the team who designed Steemit.

It’s very Busy-flavored but with some great tweaks and also some more subtle tweaks. The blue is very blue and no dark mode is available yet but the experience browsing one’s feed is definitely great.

Another great thing about it is that there’s no Adsense to be seen far and wide. Because I heard nowadays Steemit is littered with Asian dating and Madison ads for most, due to the eclectic content many find in their feed. Not that I would know using Brave and Safari with ad blockers though.

Although, If Steemit Inc were to go the distance and as one of the leading crypto communities would setup an advertising platform also catering to the crypto community... I would disable my adblocker for Steemit. But I didn’t come to crypto to feed the big Palo Alto monster by being the product.

There’s somewhere a discrepancy in ethos, a rather big disconnect and it pains me to see that even here we have become the product. We always were as creators but now even more.
