Whale watching off Surfers Paradise, Australia

in #whalewatching6 years ago

Last week we [my Wife/Boss and I] went to Brisbane, in Australia, to celebrate the middle Grandchild’s 21st Birthday.

While there we went on a “Whale Watching” morning cruise to see the Humpback Whales as they migrate from Antarctica to the warmer waters around Great Barrier Reef.

We were lucky to have 2 smaller Whales stay on or near the surface for almost an hour while we watched their antics

We have included this as a “Must Do” next time we are in the area.

looks like a great time - welcome back!

It is in the " must do again" category.
The sea being calm helped as well.

Wicked! I would imagine seeing dolphins up close would be amazing enough, but whales .... just wow!

Have seen lots of dolphins on the Cooks Straight trips, but they were going fast, these whales were just laying, playing while we watched.

What a fabulous experience. Would love to see this but there's to much water for me.

You don't get much option, the bigger the whale the more water he needs to float in.

As you can see, they are pretty close to shore, and, if you are lucky, can be seen to spout from shore.

I would want to get as close as possible. Your lucky I'm jealous:)

The boat crew take you as close as they can.

I would love that, what a wonderful experience :)

very interesting adventure that you do. certainly very happy to be able to enjoy the whale antics directly

It is definitely on the " Must do again" list.

Glad you had good time out on the water and the whales turned up to work.

With the 'middle' grandchild being 21 now you can't be far off being a great grandfather.... ;-)

Doesn't look like it yet, they are all busy " doing their thing" and producing "greats" is a long way down the track.

Holy cow that looks incredible! This is something I didn’t even realize I wanted on my bucket list till right now

It was so close to the shore, and on our trip, so calm.
Definitely one for the "Bucket List"
