WikiLeaks' New Rules: Suing Fake News Producers

A brazen announcement was made by WikiLeaks yesterday. They want to take on fake news producers by suing them. The plan is to sue fake news producers for libel and make some money in the process.

In yesterdays tweet, @WikiLeaks said:

NEW RULES: WikiLeaks is going make suing fake news producers like the Guardian a central part of its business model. Since libels are the most predictable response to the power and accuracy of a WikiLeaks' publication, our analysis is that this is a stable, scalable income stream

If WikiLeaks follows through on this proposal, it would be doing two good things. It would provide them with a extra revenue to further the organization (if they win). And it would expose even more dirty media companies that fail to live up to the trust and authority that is inherently granted to them by the public. Im not sure how viable it is as a "business model" or "scalable income stream" though.

Many commenters are making fun of WikiLeaks and Julian, calling him a criminal spy, misogynist and anti-semite [sic].

See what happens. You are a bunch of witting Russian assets, liars and sexists who committed espionage. And Julian Assange is also a pervert and an antisemite as well as a misogynist. I’m trying to think if I can be any clearer. Hope that wasn’t too on the fence?

i remember the time i loved, supported and endorsed wikileaks. I mean now, i can barley remember that time...

I mean, sure, but it would mean Julian is going to have to come out of his cupboard if he intends to go after any US publication. Face accusers and all.

There was a moment when Wikileaks stood for something noble. This is not noble. Time for a change.

Suing will allow defendants to request any and all things related to their defense in discovery. Presumably for the world to see.

Some defended WikiLeaks to the mind-controlled zombies who just by into the mainstream media propaganda about WikiLeaks:

Since everything they've published has been 100% factual, you attack the source? That's a sure sign you've lost the battle. I'm sorry it's a fact that Hillary stole an election from Bernie. I'm sorry you think that's defensible. I don't care how we learn factual things.

I’ll try to use small words so you can understand. There is no evidence of russia working with Wikileaks or Wikileaks hacking anything. There is actual evidence from VIPS that the data was taken locally from a portable hard drive. Watch less maddow, think more for yourself

A lot of people can see the good work WikiLeaks does. While others, for some reason, don't see WikiLeaks as a force for good anymore, or never did. Some are brainwashed and buy into the MSM narrative. But what made others lose respect for WikiLeaks? The threat of taking on fake news producing mainstream media? Are they so in disbelief that the media can't be guilty of doing such things?

What do you think of this proposed move? Is WikiLeaks doing the smart or right thing? Should they go for it? Are they just venting?

Maybe they won't go through with it, and it was just made in anger. But the suit against The Guardian for the Assange-Manafort fake news story is for real. The GoFundMe page has raised $38,000 so far.
