How Are Wine and STEEMIT related?! IT'S ALL ABOUT MARKETING!
Should You Judge a Wine (post) by its Label (title)?!? No one will understand this frustration more than STEEMIANS!
I've been wanting to do a post about this for a while because it's a hot topic these days! When you walk into a wine store, what are you looking for? Are you usually in there for something specific or are you just wandering the aisles for the first eye-catching label? Or maybe you're just looking to buy whatever is on sale. Whatever the goal, a wine label will almost always be a topic of discussion at the wine and cheese party you are at.

I have to admit, I've walked into a store on a mission for a certain wine and have been pulled in a different direction because of a fancy label that caught my eye. The wine ended up being awful, but they still got the sale due to strategic marketing! They caught me and I was bitter. Even so, after that experience I started purposely buying wines because of their label. Not because I wanted to drink bad wine, but because I wanted to find the good ones. I was frustrated that certain wineries could get away with producing a mediocre product while still making a ton of money because of a label that drew in consumers. On one side of things I was impressed with this tactic, but mostly it just felt icky.
But what is their ultimate goal? To attract our attention. To connect with consumers. No one can understands this more than EVERY SINGLE PERSON on STEEMIT! What are we all trying to do? Attract attention! Build up our reputation. Someone can write a post and give it a fancy title with all caps and emojis (guilty) and it catches your eye in the 'new' section! And what happens when you open it? It's 3 sentences and a gif (not guilty). You were pulled in by the 'label'. So it's not very hard to understand why wineries are doing the same thing. In a market full of competitors you have to do whatever you can to get noticed!
In the end, I love wine and I love Steemit! I put up with the frustrations of both because most of the time everything is well-intentioned. I'll continue to learn about the wine industry and support it, and I'll do the same thing with Steemit.
What are your thoughts and frustrations?! I'd love to hear other peoples thoughts on this, whether it be wine or this platform. Let me know! :)
Thanks for reading!

My thoughts on wine is that it is very personalized to each individual’s taste buds. When I lived in the Bay Area, I would go to Napa and wineries know how to lure people in with pretty bottling and expensive prices. One time, I hosted a wine tasting party and the guests had to choose their favorite and the winner was Charles Shaw 1.99 a bottle from Trader Joe’s.
I luv good wine for a buzz n is also healthy i'ma wine supporter :))
This is very applicable to steemit unfortunately. As steemit finds its maturity and works out the kinks we are going to be running into this problem for a while. Right now it is a bit of a free for all resulting in far more quick low quality posts that get blasted by a vote bot resulting in rapid upvotes from people who don't even open the post but are banking on the curation. Now I'm not against vote bots. I use them myself. But I pride myself in putting up quality posts that I have invested a lot of time in. So I want to make sure people actually see it and connect with my work. Hell yeah I'm gonna pay for some marketing. But when I see the person who has posted the third 'vlog' on dtube and then spent 10 SBD to get the value up real quick really irritates me. Hopefully with the coming SMT we will see steemit mature. It is still in beta after all!
Great post and great comparison! Let me know some of the good wines you find :)
enjoying & fascinating!
I think judging wines by their label is wrong. Like totally wrong.
Get a taste before you castigate ✌
The label is always key!
I'm looking for the wine with the most alcohol in it haha jk no my dad always picks are wine he is a big wino!
So far, it has been this platform. I am a creative writer with little followers. Its frustrating when i write posts and nobody comments on them or resteem. I'm having exams now, when i'm done i would start promoting my contents. I don't have funds for that though. I would have to source for it .
It's a very good comparison you pulled up here.
But you know some could just come up with a very good post but lack catchy Headings to give it making such post lack Upvoted or even views. I've seen that a lot and it happens to me other times. We are all here to learn and I'm glad you pulled this up.
Great.
Damn gurl .... you rock . Its like youre everywhere
Lol. Thank you
My husband always Goes by the label of the wine. Colours and stuff on it. Mostly is bringing the sweet taste wines while i'm more of a dry wine person.. but that he didn't noticed...so maybe they thought about that in marketing too.
