Circle Witness Voting Status of the Top 20 Witnesses

in #witness-category6 years ago (edited)

After reading @pharesim's recent post A fundamental change to my witness voting behavior, I wanted to know the current circle voting status of the top 20 witnesses. So I quickly coded out some script to figure out how the circle voting look like.

Visualisation is not done yet, but the following table will simply tell you how the witness votes between the top 20 witnesses are established for now.

(Use a desktop or desktop mode of your mobile browser)

Table: Voting given and received between top 20 witnesses

the number next to the account is the account's current witness rank

I will work further to visualise this outcome with advanced analysis. I am an backup witness on 58th rank, and trying to make Steem better. This project might be not a great thing to do to get votes and supports from the top ranked witnesses, but I will just do what I think is right.

Please consider voting @asbear as an witness!

It is also concerning to me that @freedom appears to be a king/queen maker. A reputable source said that @freedom is a secondary account for @ned. Meanwhile the @ned account gives the illusion of being neutral with no witness voting. This is smoke and mirrors. @ned has a legitamate stake yet is it just me that sees a conflict of interest when the sacred 20 vote on STINC forks?

We must work to form voting blocks to counter such accounts as @freedom. Hang in there @asbear. We shall get you to the sacred circle eventually. 😎

I agree with your concern. That worries everyone. If it's ned, that would be the worst story I could ever imagine lol.

Hope the top witnesses will not settle backed by the huge magical voting from the super whale. Thanks for your great words!

I fully agree. I knew this would be the reality, but well, it’s just not right.
Actually I think witnesses should not be able to vote at all.

so what if, we slowly withdraw our witness votes for those in the top 20.?
if many of us will do the same, do you think we cannot make some impact.
for prevention of monopoly of the few (though I still believe we are far from this situation yet).

I don’t think people can change top 20 rankings without witnesses themselves unvote each others because they’re the ones who own the most stakes.

I’m not sure the what’s the statistics like now, but what I saw a while ago was like top few hundreds users own more than 85% of total SP, so everyone else’s voting would be meaningless.

Considering only about 4% bother to vote then if that could be expanded to 20-30% we could give the whales a run for their stake.

Sadly feedom and blocktrades will only work for their benefit :-(

Once out of Beta the user base is bound to explode. We should see some levelling happening at that time.

One app analysis was suggesting the whale power is loosing some of their percentage of overall SPs over the last while; although granted in the single didgit range. Forget which app that was offhand.

It seems a good time to build voting blocks with agreed issues/platforms. This was sketched out a bit with a utility bot idea in an old blog post of mine.

P.S. Found that analysis post:

we will have our time, yes minnows to grow right?

...minnows to grow...

Exactly. 😎

I wouldn't say it is right or not for now but I agree that there should be a better way than this definitely.

Excellent!!!!!

You did a good job.

you are doing great, give more transparency to the blockchain, explain it to the people for a more "quality" witness votes!
