Waoo! It's my pleasure to welcome you to another Meet Our Steem Witnesses - A weekly show For All Steemians.

It's a new week and I hope you all are enjoying the week already? Last week I posted my interview with @lemouth & @justtryme90
the witnesses behind @steemstem. And it not a new thing to us that we all have 30 votes to cast for any steemit witness of our choice and I will say this is the most important 30 votes you will ever cast on this platform.

Looking at things here, the on going dip as affected the atmosphere here on Steem platform but I hope that the RockDB and SMTs would bring good impact to the Steem project. To those that might have never heard of Meet Our Steem Witnesses before, here is a recap here

For some months now, I have been interviewing some witnesses and it has been an amazing and remarkable experience presenting my chat here for steemians to read and see what they have been up to.

Here are the links to my previous interview

So today, I will be posting my interview with @c0ff33a

So stay tuned, follow up and learn from our witnesses.!Logopit_1551612618742.jpg

When and How did you discover Steemit?

I came to Steemit in March 2017, I was producing mediocre YouTube videos and also watching other people’s, one of these was Paul, @oldguyphotos. He told me he had find a website where I could share my videos and get a better financial rewards from them. I came and had a look - and I’m still here now.

In s simple term, what is it that witnesses do?

A Witness for the Steem Blockchain Authenticates transactions that are then confirmed and signed to a Block. Production of these blocks is rewarded in Steem, and through the DPOS system the amount of blocks a Witness receives increases with the amount of Steem Power their Witness Voters have.

What is your purpose and aim of joining the Steem Witnesses?

I proposed my Steem Witness in May 2018, my aim back then and still is now was to support the blockchain through running a Witness server - and contribute to it’s long term existence and reliability.

How do witnesses get voted?

Anyone with a Steem account can vote for Witnesses, they have 30 Witnesses to choose from and they can select them from either the https://steemit.com/~witnesses page or external websites like https://steemian.info/witnesses

Why are witnesses dropping out when STEEM prices are low?

Basic economics - the cost of running Witness Servers is very high, right now the minimum comfortable requirements are 64gb Ram and 500gb Server with dedicated high speed internet connection. The rewards from Block Production contribute to the cost of running a server - but the Steem Produced per block is not going to contribute when the price is low unless you are very high up the Witness table. So with low Steem prices the majority of Witnesses are paying with their own money to cover their Witness server costs, those that are unable to keep up this cost will shut down their servers.

What are your thoughts on the price of Steem and SBD over the last one month?

We have seen positive increases in the value over the last month, they might be small but you also have to consider all cryptocurrencies tend to ride a little on the wave of Bitcoin - which is currently relatively static with the occasional value drop and then recovery.

What's your opinion on the recent Steemit, Inc.’s Managing Director in person of @elipowell?

Looking at her credentials I think she can do a lot of good for Steemit Inc, other then that I have not heard anything else to comment on.

What changes would you like to see more on Steemit?

I am not sure we will see future changes on Steemit, what we are seeing now is the development and growth of new front ends that interact with the Steem Blockchain in different ways. @Partiko has it’s own mobile front end, and you can use it in browser as well. Steeve.app is a new front end that entirely reworks how your feed is displayed based on your interactions. Steempeak.com also delivers content in a different way. The changes we will see in future will be driven by the developers of these front ends and we should support them.

Will SMTs support the building of real life enterprises and business on the blockchain?

Using https://smt.steem.com as a reference, it states “A Smart Media Token (SMT) is a native digital asset on the Steem blockchain that can be quickly launched by anyone to help monetize online content and create incentives to encourage desired user behavior.”
The general case of use for SMT was to provide monetisation to existing non blockchain web sites.

Looking at the atmosphere here on steemit, a lot has changed. Can you tell us what you have been doing to tell non-steemians out there about steemit?

I think generally many of naturally share content from the Steem Blockchain via other social media channels, and introduce friends family to the blogging concept and also the gaming like @steemmonsters

There is no gainsaying that the drop in the price of Steem and SBD has affected a lot of steemians and some are not active like people.
What do you think should be done to boom the price of steem and even SBD?

Everyone can contribute to lifting the value of Steem, it is not really any one persons job and there are so many little things every Steemian can do. Just finding a few people you know willing to invest in Steem and get set up with an account. Spreading the word through social medias, different blogs etc. Holding on to the Steem token - I don’t think people realise the effect selling Steem to an exchange has on the value. And if we want people to join and see Steem grow, then producing quality content that makes the casual browsers to one of the front ends feel this is somewhere they could contribute to.

What do you think the steem community should do to restore people's confidence in this project because looking at this project from my own view a lot have already losing hope in this project?

I would say you need to stop looking at Steemit.com as the Steem Blockchain, and see the wider picture - the dapps growing off the back end of it - aside from the front ends I have already mentioned games are growing, we had @steemmonsters, now @drugwars has started and I have a few others are already testing. Look at the @steemalliance about how they have formed to promote the blockchain and support communities, and look at all the incredible communities we already have in place - @thealliance, @helpie, @welcomewagon, @steemterminal to name a few.

Do you think if businesses is attach to steemit, like allowing ads to be displayed. Will that bring more value to steem. Because presently we only have content creator and the curators. What do you think?

I think finding a workable way to buy and sell goods with Steem will raise it’s value, when you can earn the token through a post and then spend it on physical goods - that would be a real value to people and also raise the token value.

What are the things you would love to see on steemit and what are those things you would like to remove if you have the power to do so?

Returning to my previous comment on Front Ends, anyone can effectively pick and choose what they see or do not see - either by using a different front end or just coding one of their own! What I would really love to see is more people enjoying creating content for the Steem Blockchain, and also letting others they have enjoyed the work they have done through comments.

Do you think Steem(it) has the chance to overcome its growing pains and become the next big social media site?

Yes.

Why is there fluctuation in the post-payout system?

It is based on certain situations regarding the relative values of Steem and SBD - it is quite complicated and I am sure anyone really interested could look it up.

How do you keep balance between being a witness and other commitments?

With great difficulty, I try to be as active and visible as possible - but real life does not allways allow it.

What should steemians expect from you in the future?

Exactly the same as I have been for the last two years, actively curating, supporting content through comments, keeping a close eye on new developments and informing/sharing them. Looking to add value to the Steem Token, and promote new developments that will do it.

Your advice to Steemians in general?

Keep having fun, enjoying what you are doing and try to build off that. Be creative, everyone has something interesting around them to share - you just haven’t seen it yet.

If you could only vote for one witness (not yourself) who would it be and why?

@gtg - Exceptional knowledge about how the blockchain runs, alongside massive server power to support it and supplies Witnesses with the Blockchain log needed to set up a new server.

What would you like to do if you had no responsibilities/societal expectations to fulfill?

Learn to code and develop an amazing app to run off the Steem Blockchain.

I like the fact that @coff33a said we should not just look at steemit.com alone for steem. The steem blockchain is indeed very wide.... Nice interview man @dhavey
