This week has been hectic for me due to a number of reasons, thanks to the UK returning to it's more average temperatures I have been busier at work - but also at the start of this week updates to Steemd were released for all Witnesses - you will recall at the start of July the BlockChain froze to protect itself against an attempt to exploit it. Subsequently Witnesses updated to v0.19.5 stable release and also had the option of joining an experimental release v0.19.10 which could activate a host of new features the most popular being the ability to edit posts after the 7 days pay out period.

Both these releases were pushed to fix the coding issue that caused the blockchain freeze, and while stable enough to keep our beloved blockchain running a few issues existed that needed correcting - so this week v0.19.6 and v0.19.11 were released for all Witnesses to update to. My joint Witness server with @derangedvisions is running the Experimental Version, at the time v0.19.10 because we both believe the new features that it can activate are worth the additional upkeep. I strongly believe part of being an active Witness is being on top of the software updates - and I wanted to make sure my own server quickly updated to the latest release.

It took a considerable amount of time, hunting through GitHub and the files on my own Witness Server to work out how to build the new version instead of waiting for the official release of steem-docker. I worked it out though , and shared my findings in the Witness thread of SteemChat so others could take advantage - fortunately Witness @jamzed spotted from my replay screen grab I had missed an essential update for the config.ini that had caused an error - he was kind enough to supply the additional code I needed to correct that and ensure v0.19.11 would start up correctly without issue.

Right now we have 136 Active Witnesses supporting the Steem blockchain, I personally feel it is important we support and encourage every single one because the servers they are running are providing the additional processing capacity to help it grow and flourish. With 30 votes each we have the opportunity to research and find the Witnesses we feel are doing the best for our experience of Steem and Steemit - your Witness votes cost you nothing but can make sure the Witness you vote for has the ability to enhance your user experience and move this whole platform forward. Every Witness we have exhibits unique skills and qualities - vote for the ones you see bringing you the most benefit.

If we look at https://steemian.info/witnesses maintained by the Witness @drakos - a number of active Witnesses still have to update from v0.19.5 and v0.19.10 respectively - this was an advised rather then essential update so many will be holding out to fit it in along their own schedule.

Since I teamed up with @derangedvisions his many Witness voters have been kind enough to start moving their vote over to c0ff33a - as a Witness team the Blockchain will ensure you always see what we are both doing for this platform. And as a team we are sharing the weekly block production rewards 50/50 - while I am receiving the Witness rewards in Steem Power that will give me additional upvote to support the many accounts and communities I vote on every single day - I am sending my Witness partner @derangedvisions Steem every week for his share which he will either power up as Steem Power or use towards the prize fund for his Photography competitions. It is thanks to all of @derangedvisions Witness supporters that we are now a joint Witness at active position 95, in return for these votes and this ranking we have obtained we both remain dedicated to supporting people making quality content on Steemit, retaining existing accounts on here and also on boarding new accounts. We are both active, and @derangedvisions has introduced me to new communities like @helpie supporting a wide variety of Steemit accounts and also @czechglobalhosts who does incredible competitions for the photography community.

What do you do as a Witness for the Community

I could right now leave a very long list of accounts on here that are not Witnesses - but are doing incredible work to Promote Steemit, Steem encourage and retain accounts and bring in new users. I won't because that is for another post - but the point remains exceptional people abound on this platform - both as Witnesses but also as incredible dedicated Steemians working hard to look after the smallest developing accounts on here - I know who they are but feel free to mention your favourite Steemian in the comments so their hard work is appreciated.

For my own part pretty much all of my own hard earned Steem Power is delegated out - you can see above where it is delegated to and I would like to justify every single delegation.

@mermaidvampire - A relatively new account to me, I was very lucky to come across this exceptional lady through the incredible work of @underground who was offering delegations of his own Steem Power. What impressed me most about @mermaidvampire was the level of interaction she was creating amongst a massive number of accounts, engaging them with simple but fun games that were accessible to all languages. And these competitions are unique in that she rewards everyone that enters - Correct answers get a greater reward - but everyone that enters get's something from the price fund. That to me is inspired, she had a delegation which had been supporting the amazing community she is building and it expired - I have delegated some of my own Steem Power to her to support her work with no requirements - it will remain as long as I am happy she is supporting and growing a community on Steemit.

@crisangel - He works hard for his community and does many charitable works alongside @ropavejero helping to support educational establishments to repair buildings and leaking roofs - ensuring the places of learning can help the students do just that. I am also proud to call him a good friend, we chat regularly when we are both are free and I have a great deal of respect for this young man with a very sensible head on his shoulders.

@teamgood - Quite possibly the most inspired initiative I have seen on Steemit so far, this account is managed by two incredible ladies that honestly astound me with both their tenacity and also exceptional abilities to bring together so many individuals who share a common goal of giving rather then taking away. @battleaxe and @ancapbarbie you are both exceptional - very few truly appreciate what you both put in to help us all - thank you for being the amazing people you are and giving me your time and friendship.

@friendsofgondor - This delegation forms part of a long term debt I owe the inspired Steemian @fulltimegeek - if you have never encountered him before then now is the time to look up this generous Whale who has inspired so many on this platform - many in fact that I now consider good friends. To encourage accounts to grow on this platform he delegated his own Steem Power investment to many accounts like myself, @coolguy123, @abh12345 and @goldendawne to name but a few. We used that investment in us to support so many more then he could on his own, and more importantly it inspired every single one of the people he blessed to do likewise and support and give back to the incredible Steemit community.

And giving back is something every one of @fulltimegeek stewards do, continuing the inspiration he found in me I delegate my own Steem Power out - and also pay from my own purchased Steem Power to increase my Upvote through Delegated Steem Power. And my votes stretch far and wide, to the real people and quality content creators of Steemit.

@redheadpei - I saw something special in this lady long ago, and she continues to impress and inspire with amazing posts and engaging comments.

And that is where my own Steem Power goes to, as a Witness I will continue to use everything I gain to encourage and grow our incredible content creators.
