NOW Do You Understand Why Witnesses Matter?

If you do NOT know by now, then, this is probably a good time to tell you about Steemit Witnesses!

The way the blockchain works is this:
The only reason any transaction on the Steemit Blockchain works, is Witnesses (their servers) validate each transaction. Every comment, post, upvote, flag, movement and transfer of money, any hardfork of code, etc. Somewhere, one of the witnesses' servers validates it, as a group of transactions, called a Block...
A witness is someone who runs a witness server on steemit:

These servers are set up, and run code that validates every transaction. The top 20 witnesses, plus the first few alternates get first crack at code. A certain number must validate a transaction for it to be valid on the blockchain. Each blockchain (Steem, EOS, etc) has them. they run slightly differently, but essentially all function alike. Basically, it's 16 plus one.
One way a witness gets to be in the top 20, is by gathering votes from the rest of the community.
We each vote up to 30. I find lists of who is doing what on the platform, and vote for them. Each witness runs a project or three, that provides more value to Steemit. Those projects and the person's views are what dictate my choices.
My STRONG suggestion is to go vote for witnesses. I recognize, however, that's hard to do, without knowing who or what to vote for, so I will say, during the recent issue, there were a few witnesses who I noticed were active at getting informatio out and at getting a fix in.

@followbtc is a team, with @crimsonclad she's amazing. As is @patrice, she's amazing as well. BOTH are amazing coder warriors, and work hard for women on the platform. @sapphic works hard for some on the platform who's voices aren't heard. She's truly a goddess on outreach and equality.

Others will have more accurate, and more detailed information on what happened to Steemit... I will only say this, despite being offline all day, I STILL DID NOT manage to get back to 100% Voting power!
It's been a long day, and I am now way behind on a 19.12 replay because I held out on v0.20 being re-activated until the bitter end. I have retained the blog log for v0.20 for debugging, and currently am replaying my own back up of a 19.12 log .
Lot's of community good today though, people coming together to inform about updates and sharing information.
With that said I'm off for a nap!

Yea, I really appreciated @yabapmatt feeding info on the steemmonsters Discord channel.
The admin of a group I brought over to Steemit not long ago was, understandably, freaking out this morning because it said "page not found". The reason they set up shop here is they've had 9 Face Book accounts and a YouTube account shut down. lol. I wouldn't have known what to tell them if it wasn't for him, because I didn't know myself at first!
