There we were,
gathered excitedly

Each one gathered,
eager eyes circling the tree

Our hearts yearned
For a bite of the fruit

But it took so long in coming,
Legs began to stray

And when it seemed
Everyone but me had left

The smiling face of patience emerged
With a fruit in his hand for me
