What is the source of the magical sauce that makes word sorcery?

in #wordsmith6 years ago

In other words, would you like to try a portion of my magical word potion?

Let's begin.

Isn’t it strange how in our first term at school we learn how words are spelled to create a sentence of terms… and how later in life if you commit a crime you get booked and are given a prison sentence...or is it a gaol term?

And how we use curse words to cuss but not to dis-cuss.

And how we have polite dis-course to make sure we all stay on the same page, of course.

Or when we hear someone sneeze we tell them to ‘be less’ not to ‘be more’? Or greet people with a cheerful ‘good mourning’ when they are barely ‘awake’?

It also seems odd to me that the word ‘gospel’ sounds like God’s spell. Is that just another coincidence? I’m not so sure.

You see I now think that lots of our words are double-dealing - with their misleading and confusing often opposite meaning.

Yes: Words = Mean Things (like crosswords!)

So it shouldn’t surprise you that books, which are full of words, play the same tricks? Don’t believe me? Well, isn’t it interesting that books contain pages and pages serve knights who belong to chapters who in turn serve their masters?

What do you think? Is ‘their’ word magic at play here? 😉😜
