Brazil face Belgium in the 2018 World Cup quarter-finals in Kazan Arena on Saturday, July 7, 2018.
Belgium was almost eliminated in the last 16 against Japan after trailing two goals in the second half. However, with the unyielding spirit Roberto Martinez's team managed to make a comeback by scoring three goals back to advance to the quarter-finals and met with another favorite team of champions Brazil.
Brazil had a less dramatic route to get to their seventh World Cup quarterfinal by beating Mexico by a score of 2-0. And against Belgium will be a tough test for Brazil considering Belgium look good since the start of the World Cup match this year.
Although Belgium has world-class stars in their ranks, we can hardly see them as matches to Brazil at this stage of the competition. The Red Devils are halted in the quarterfinals of both the 2014 World Cup and EURO 2016 despite having quite a lot of the same squad.
They are now fighting the world champions five times to bring the trophy back to Brazil after suffering a humiliating defeat against Germany in the semi-finals four years ago at home.
Selecao headed into this match with unbeaten capital in 15 matches, a barrage that saw them conceding only three goals in the process. It's fair to say that their defense line under Tite is more than impressive.
However, Belgium does have a super strong power on display such as Romelu Lukaku, Dries Mertens, Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne. This will be a real test for the Brazilian defense in this fight, whether able to stop the onslaught of Belgian attackers for 90 minutes.
On the other hand, Martinez's defense woes are immense because the team showed a lack of rigor on the back line against the Japanese who could score two goals after the break. We also doubt the Belgian defense can stop the Brazil attack line that led such as Neymar or Philippe Coutinho, Gabriel Jesus and Willian. Predicted score: Brazil 2-3 Belgium. @alex-discord
