The winners were Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Italy, Argentina, Germany and Brazil.
There were English fans who believed that this phenomenon "proved" that England would win the 1998 World Cup, because it won in 1966. Unfortunately the pattern broke (France won) ... and returned only in the next World Cup: Brazil won in 2002 after winning in 1962.
