World's Daily Food Photo Contest - Sunday Anything Goes - Ginat-an

Since we could post anything I wanted to post some native delicacies from my town but I did not have a picture of how it actually looks. Maybe next Sunday.

But for today another native snack, a favorite here in Iloilo also in other places. It has a lot of different names.

In Iloilo we call it "GINAT-AN" but I think in Tagalog they call it "LINANT-A".

It is a dish of root crops like ube, kamote, and taro. Also jackfruit, coconut strips, plantain bananas (saba). Then sago or pearl balls. All boiled andcooked in the coconut milk. Also we grind the malagkit rice or glutinous riceand make small balls and add to the mixture. The sugar, sometimes we use muscovado sugar and sometimes white sugar.

It is better if the mixture is thick. Sometimes tastes good cold.

GINAT-AN - picture taken with my iPhone 7 in Miagao, Iloilo. Philippines.
