I try to Finish the Fiction Story Contest - WEEK #11 📝👍

Dear fictio-holics friends,
Today I try my hand at Finish the Fiction Story Contest - WEEK #11 by @ f3nix 📝👍

Below is her part of story 👇

NEXUS@TubaCity

He drained the last of his waterskin and sank to his knees. What a crap place to die. Tuba City. Dirt and rocks and nothing but a cracked and empty highway half buried in sand. Maybe if he caught his breath he could make it to the mesa. But then what? Who was he kidding? He was done.

There was a distant whoop and he could just make them out. Perhaps five hundred yards. Maybe less. The Eggman and Tree, pace steady, drawn towards him like rats to steaming garbage.

His head drooped down. He had no juice left to fight. And then he saw it. He had to crawl until the dark form took shape. It was a footprint. A footprint sunk into solid rock. Bigger than his head. Three toes, huge claws, every detail visible, as if chiseled by a master. His whirling brain finally caught a gear and delivered. “Huh,” he said, “Raptor print”.

They were only a few hundred yards away now, skullblades catching the last of the sunlight. Time was going, going, gone.

Why here? A two hundred million year old echo pressed into stone, a sliver of time out of sequence, a crossing over point. This was the place. It was meant to be here. Him, Eggman and Tree, and the silent intruder from across a gulf of eons. Good Lord. Who organizes this shit? So many variables for them all to wind up here. Had to mean something, he just couldn’t figure what.

And this is my entry 👇

"This wouldn’t be so hard,” he mumbled to himself, “If you weren’t tripping balls”.
He tried to concentrate, but his thoughts circled chaotically. Eggman and Tree were close, but they were no longer a threat to him.

"Step back" he said quietly.
Eggman and Tree laughed.
"It's not me who's your problem right now, shut up!" - he said firmly.
The end of the sentence was drowned out by terrifying groan.
"Look - said Eggman to Tree - he thinks he'll scare us."
Next words he addressed to Gunslinger - "We've got you, and now you're finished."

Guns turned on his back with a quick, agile movement. He tried to find the source of a terrifying roar that broke the silence again.
His enemies stopped just near him.
"What is he up to?!" - Tree barked behind his teeth. He wasn't so confident anymore.
Gunslinger heaved himself up and looked around, and finally, he saw a beast - probably the one who left a footprint. Maybe they would have a chance if he had revolver, or at least a crossbow...
He understood that he had wondered too long, when he felt a strong blow on his head. Immediately great mood returned to his rivals. However, this wasn't his biggest problem, because he remebered about the Raptor!

"Below us..." he moaned. Eggman turned, and looked questioningly at Tree who were approaching the edge of the cliff.
But he was wrong. Raptor has already found his enemies. He stood right behind them.
"What are you talking about?" - Tree started to asking Gunslinger - "There is nothing there...". And then he saw it.

It seemed to last forever, until finally Raptor moved. The fighters tried to get swords, but it was too late. Tree after one rupture of the Raptor rolled bleeding along the ravine. The beast turned swiftly and moved on Eggman. He had better reflexes than the Tree, and he managed to reach his sword, jumped off the path of the beast and hit it several times, but it only seemed surprised, and it was already preparing for the next attack. Eggman reached out to Gunslinger. "Get up, I can't do it myself". Guns realized that they must deal with each other or die. The steel hooks of the claws flashed in the air between them. Fortunately, both were experienced warriors, so soon they stood side by side, with their swords towards the huge reptile.

Then the Raptor rushed, and tried to pushed them out from the cliff. His hard scales resisted sharpness of their swords.
Suddenly Gunslinger shouted "Hold my sword”, and Eggman reacted automatically. Gunslinger jumped aside, and the speeding Raptor mass began to push Eggman even faster to the abyss. "You traitor!" Eggman shouted. At the same moment, he saw Guns hammering a small dagger into beast chest. There was only one scale missing. Eggman noticed what happend, and jumped away, moment before the body of the monster fell on the ground. They defeated the Raptor together, and it changed their relation in some way forever.

I hope you going to like my ending of this story 👍👍👍

Nice action scene, @adazone, I like it very much!

Sometimes a monster can be defeated only by finding its weak point 😉
