It was a quiet and calm summer evening with a slight breeze grazing the leaves on the trees. The day had been quite hot but as the sun had set behind the horizon the temperature started to drop and the dew was gathering on the ground.

She had been invited to a party at her friend’s place in the countryside – she wasn’t sure whether she would go but since she hadn’t been social for a while now so she felt a bit of pressure to do that, to be around people and seem normal in that sense. Her crush was also going to be there although she had been hiding this from everyone, even herself in a way. She’d had these feelings for quite a while now but she didn’t dare to do anything about it because she didn’t want to embarrass herself or face rejection, it was too scary to make herself vulnerable.

She opened the closet and looked at all her clothes – she wasn’t sure what to pick. If she puts on a dress or anything nice then someone might notice and she didn’t want anyone to think she’s trying to impress him. She picked out a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and put those on and also grabbed a sweater just in case she’s going to be cold later.

When she got to the party most of the people who had been invited were already there – she waved at her friend to let her know she had arrived but made her way into the kitchen to grab something to drink. Everyone else was having a good time, the music was playing in the background and the conversations tried to keep up with its volume, some people were dancing, some were watching the TV but she wasn’t paying too much attention to that. She looked around to see if he was there but didn’t notice him. She went to the fridge, opened it and grabbed a bottle of cider and went outside. The air was nice and cool against her skin and she went around the house to sit on the swing for a while.

When she had finished her cider she was feeling more relaxed and wasn’t thinking about whether she was going to see him tonight or not. She went back inside the house and some guy she didn’t know came up to her and told her if she wanted to go to the sauna it was free right now since everyone else had already been there or weren’t interested. She told him she’d go but just needed to grab a few things from upstairs. She got herself a towel and went out of the house to the sauna. She wasn’t very keen on the heat but she felt like being alone and this was the perfect place for that right now. She got undressed in the hallway and left her clothes on the chair next to the door. She opened it and stepped into the heat and the steam rising from the stones. She folded the towel underneath her and lied down on the bench. She closed her eyes and quickly forgot about her surroundings while getting lost in her own mind instead.

When she opened her eyes again she looked around and got up slowly but felt a little dizzy at first so she had to sit there for a while. She took the towel, wrapped it around her body and went outside. The air felt even colder now against her sweaty skin. She started walking to the lake – it was a bit further away but she felt like going for a swim so she didn’t mind.

When she got there she just stood there for a while and listened to the silence. She closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. She took off the towel and left it next to her on the ground and was about to step into the water when something stopped her. ‘Hi,’ said someone right behind her. She froze and didn’t know whether to grab the towel and cover herself or run into the lake and not look back. She didn’t do either though and just stood there as she was. The person came closer and put their hand on her back, slowly trailing her spine with their fingers. ‘What are you doing or why are you here?’ she asked. She didn’t get an answer but that person stepped in front of her and now she could see him. It was him.

Her heart was racing, equally as fast with her mind but she couldn’t think of anything to say. There was a moment of silence between them but he broke it first. ‘You’re beautiful.’ He was looking at her intently and it made her blush a bit so she looked down instead of meeting his gaze. He came closer, pulling her chin up a bit so he could see her face and looked at her with a faint smile before kissing her. His lips were soft and warm against hers, he could feel she was a bit cold standing there so he wrapped his arms around her holding her tightly. She didn’t know how long they had been kissing but it felt like forever.

He pulled away a bit, took off his shirt and pants and left them next to her towel. He took her hand and they walked into the water. It felt warm, warmer than the air so they got all in until the water had covered their shoulders. He pulled her closer facing him again and kissed her softly, making his way down her neck and letting his fingers run through her hair. His hands were caressing her body, exploring it with his fingers - he let them slide over her back and hips onto her thighs and then to her breasts, cupping one of them with his hand while holding her close with the other. She was shivering but not from the cold because his touch sent chills all over her body. …
