Another update on my BlackBox journey.

in #writing5 years ago

So.. Here's another update on my BlackBox journey.

I got 4 more clips uploaded which brings me to a total of 5 now. 1 has been accepted by BlackBox, 4 are pending. None are on any agencies yet.

However.. Due to BlackBox accepting the first clip, I decided to just start uploading as many as I reasonably can. And I'm still slow but I'm getting quicker at it! We'll see how it goes! :D

Also I was at the BB forum the other day and checking for interesting stuff and I saw this status update which I wanted to share.

"Where might 10 clips a day get you BlackBoxers? Well after 1 year (3,650 clips) you may be able to pay your rent or mortgage and probably a car payment. After 2 years (7,300 clips) you may be able to cover some nice vacations too. After 3 years (10,950 clips) you may be able to do this full time and start making more like 50 clips a day. Simple and very powerful math guys!! My dream is to have 50,000 BlackBoxers making $50,000 a year. I really believe this is possible. These are just the average numbers guys. If you build a super high quality and diverse portfolio you can make a LOT more money. So get busy doing what you love and collaborate with like minded people!"

And I'm just like.. Dang.. This is so absolutely one of my new main goals.
I'm going to work on this so hard and get so many clips uploaded, I'm going to do my best to free myself from this "lack" I find myself in.

Now to be fair, in regards to that quote above.. He's referring to good quality clips. You could have thousands of clips online and never sell one if they are all poor quality and content no one wants to buy.. But I think if you put out good content that people are looking for, that the numbers above are something an expert in the field suggests is very possible.

I'm tired of being limited in such ways, time to make some money! :D
Looking to work with peoples around Sedona and I'm willing to split the profits 50/50% for any model that is willing to be in my videos/pictures.

Speaking of pictures.. The other night I discovered something that exited me to an EVEN FURTHER level.. :D
I was watching another video on stock video versus stock pictures and.. I discovered there's a program out there like BlackBox, except for still pictures!

It's called Stocksubmitter and instead of sending your imagery to the 4 main agencies like BB does, I think this Stocksubmitter one sends your pictures to dozens of agencies???

Not sure exactly how many, that's what I read or heard somewhere though I need to look into it deeper, either way.. It's like BlackBox in that it sends your pictures to numerous agencies.

Soooooooooo............
Theoretically if someone has good content they should be able to make a living doing either pictures or video alone.
Now it looks like I can easily do both. These new programs like BlackBox and Stocksubmitter are amazing...

It would take soooo many hours to upload to all the different agencies doing it manually, these programs make it easy and it's worth giving a little cut of the profit to them for such a service in my opinion.

Plus.. With Stocksubmitter, it's actually totally free if you upload I think 30+ images a month? So.. I dunno if I'll be wanting to upgrade to a paying version, but at the least I can right now start to divert some of my attention to working on uploading 30+ pictures a month as well.

I think if I work really hard on these two areas.. For the next number of years/the rest of my life.. That I will hopefully be able to free myself from a lot of the lack of wealth stuff I'm dealing with and by extension other stuff in my life as well.

And I mean.. I'm not trying to be egotistical or act like I'm more than I am when I say this cause I feel I'm very humble and tend to even be self deprecating, but I acknowledge I have some of the most epic pictures and photography out there and that I'm pretty good at what I do.. And I live in one of the best places in the world for it, so if anyone can do it, I should be able to do it as well.

And just to be clear, I'm not giving up on helping the world and speaking out and doing what I used to.. I just have to do it less and seriously focus on myself a lot more for a while because I wore myself too thin and I can't help anyone if I can't even help myself.

After I get more stable in my life, I'll be back more and will probably be more effective than I was before. Either way I gotta step back a bit and take care of myself or I won't be of much help to anyone.

Also.. To be totally straight forward.. I feel like I earned a break.. I sacrificed much of my life trying to help, and it got to an unhealthy level because I'm stubborn and I believed so much in what I was doing that I was willing to die for it.

Yet.. That's not smart, I need to last as long as possible and help for as long as I can. Anyways.. I'ma shut up now. Time to get back to work! Peace.

PS If you're a photographer I suggest looking into stock photography, and also.. If there's any computer graphics people out there who might want to work together lemme know!

You can split up the earnings for projects and if you add some neat effects in some of my images or movies, we could sell them and split the profit. That's another element of BlackBox by the way.. You don't even need to be a photographer to work with them, you can be a graphical artist or someone who just does metadata/editing and they are planning on adding more fields and artforms in the future.

Just took a look at the website and watched some videos... Looks really promising! I'm working on acquiring a camera right now, ideally the new BlackMagic Pocket 4K, which would allow me to shoot some really awesome stuff. That investment looks like it will be awhile though. Regardless, thanks for putting Black Box on my radar!

Hey. You're welcome. That's cool you're working on such a nice camera. I'd like a better 4k one in the future than the GoPro hero 4 I have, but.. In time! I remember one of your music videos I watched that was high quality, was that not your camera?

Also.. By the way.. Some of these people are making money with videos from their phone cameras.. So.. Even if you don't have a more professional camera, you can still do this even on a phone camera.

Good luck whatever the case! I'm really excited about it. :) Though I'm sure it will be time before I see good results. It's as a lot of people say.. Not a get rich quick scheme, but.. It's a lot of work and will take a while if you wanna do it more professionally. Though.. The gains do look pretty nice for doing something so fun! Like filming. :) I'd much rather film out in nature all day or with people than be sitting in a cubicle somewhere. But that's just me. Anyways I think I'm starting to ramble, peace!

Feel free to ramble, this stuff is exciting! As far as my videos go, if it was recorded on a nice camera, it was probably filmed by my mate @skuuun with his BlackMagic beauty. Otherwise, I may have done it at Evergreen when I was studying video production/documentary film. All of my recent stuff is shitty iPhone video haha!

BlackBox sounds like a slow grind for sure, but all of us at Steem know a little something about that, right? x) Best of luck in your endeavors, homie!

Highly rEsteemed!
