Brainstorming ideas for a new movement.

in #writing5 years ago (edited)

I've been more and more thinking about how frustrated I am with the state of the world and how we need a new movement to help change things for the better, yet.. All of the movements I really identify with have a lot of baggage at this point and a lot of people who are automatically opposed to them because of the way they have structured their belief systems, so we almost need a totally new name/label to identify with.

And I know.. In time people will do the same thing with a new movement.. You will get detractors and opponents who vilify and demonize and try to tarnish your image if you ever get popular enough.. However.. I still sorta just feel like we need a new name/label to start with. And I'm not sure what that name is yet.. I'm still thinking about it and open to hearing what other people think as I don't think I should try to come up with it all by myself. This is a group idea and I'm not the leader.. I'm just another member of the group.

I'm going to be brainstorming this with certain people in the near future and I also invite anyone in general who is interested to share your thoughts or get a hold of me and talk more directly if you have any ideas or want to be a part of this in any manner. But essentially.. I think it's time for a change, I've talked and complained for so many years and now it's time for some kind of action.

It's going to start slow, but overtime could build into something really meaningful. I started going over the principles or "planks" that I think it should represent the other night when laying in bed and here's what I have so far.

Planks of new movement.

Freedom.
Love.
Decentralized or Distributed.
Respect for life and the environment.
Open source.
P2P.

If you happen to read this.. What do you think? Do you have any suggestions? Thank you for your time. <3

PS.. I don't expect everyone who wants to be a part of this to adhere to all of those principles, but it's a good foundation or framework to start with to sort of show what we're about in general.

Sort:

I am working on this as well, but I don't look as far as forming a huge community at this point. To me, self-development in all aspects of life should come first, and then one can inspire others by his/her own example. Actions more than words, showing and living it in action more than telling others what to do and directing them, etc.

Eventually (or maybe from the very beginning?) a movement should have a leader because people today seem to not possess the ability to take responsibility for everything even in their own lives. Geez, most of us don't even have any control of our own feelings, desires, emotions, habits, dependencies, psychological issues, physical bodies, and other weaknesses...

But that Leader should be absolutely pure, strong, very human, and free of any selfishness and other things that can compromise everything... And it seems that humans like this simply do not exist.

That's cool you're working on something similar! :) I also am not trying to grow big right away, better to start small and work your way forward in a meaningful manner and grow in a sort of natural way based on the interest than to try to force anything in my opinion.

I agree with what you say about self development and leading by example. In fact I agree with pretty much everything you said except the leader part.. I don't think there should be just one leader, I think everyone should be their own leader in their own ways. And yeah we all have our strong points and weak points, though I think you have just one leader it'll be a lot easier to corrupt or assassinate or beleaguer, etc. The more leaders the better in my opinion!

So.. What kind of community are you working on if you don't mind me asking?

At this point my friends and I see that one of the main problems human beings face is that we live, work, and create things and processes that benefit the System, and not the people themselves. We create and develop more and more technology to make life easier, and life does get more comfortable, more fast-paced, more productive, more secure, etc., but people who live this life don't develop; mostly technology and science develops.

Same thing happens with information. People's world is over-saturated with information that just flows everywhere and fills everything. It's like we are constantly floating in this huge "ocean" of information that fills up people's brain and body (and spirit, who knows), and people just absorb and absorb like sponges, consume everything and never stop to think if maybe it's too much, or too harmful, or just polluting...

So one of the first things we think we can do is become more aware of what we consume, and that's about everything - food, information, education, entertainment, communication with others, etc. Another thing is that instead of investing in the System and living strictly by its scenario of what a "good, normal" life is, every person has to invest in developing themselves. It seems obvious and simple, but when I start thinking hard about this, I notice that lots of stuff people fall for is actually designed to make them obey that specific scenario.

Lots of "self-development" programs, ALL spiritual movements, and even all these nice, useful, and inspiring things like doing yoga, being positive, watching your health, meditating, traveling, not stressing out, etc. are essentially a part of this larger picture/puzzle, in which every human is given his/her own specific spot where they have to STAY PUT. I don't know if there is anything "official" )) that actually helps or inspires people to step out of all these pre designed things and search/do their own thing.

And that's what I and some other people I know try to do. I can compare it a bit to martial arts and what Bruce Lee said once about different styles... There are all these "predesigned" styles, traditional styles, and students follow them rigidly. There is karate and judo and aikido, and you can't go to a karate class and start throwing people on the floor because in karate you just don't do that... And then sometimes martial artists "faithful" to a particular style will always say that their style is the best and the oldest and the most effective one...But Bruce Lee broke this whole notion of traditional rigidity by saying that true kung fu is everything and it's everywhere, and you can't set rigid rules and regulations to movements. When movements have to follow a specific structure, and you are not allowed to change them, they are dead. A true martial arts is moving, flowing, changing, free. Same things is with everything in life. Following a rigid scenario - especially one created for you by someone else (who profits from it) - is like living a dead life, or someone else's life.

Wow... I am kind of drifting away from your question, but anyway... We are trying to create a community - or find like-minded individuals who are interested in similar things - a community where people will stop being "dead" and rigid and start waking up, finding their own way, writing their own scenario, and, to cut it short, be FREE in every sense (and not just in their heads and their imagination).

At this point my friends and I see that one of the main problems human beings face is that we live, work, and create things and processes that benefit the System, and not the people themselves.

That's a wise observation, I wish more people realized that.

That's interesting, I was thinking similar recently.. It's almost to the point of overload for me at times. And a lot of stuff people share on social media is just like.. I wonder why they would even share it sometimes. It's like oh, you just ate at a fast food place, great. Thanks for telling the world. There's so much potential to share information and change the world and so many instead use it to talk about very trivial things.. And I suppose if they balance it with important stuff then that's cool, but so much of what I see just seems so self serving and at times questionable to the point that I wonder why anyone would even find it interesting.. It's like.. It reminds me of a meme where this guy jokes about posting a status update for everything and he's like.. "I just turned the light switch on!" these things sometimes are so mundane, but people feel the need to post about almost everything, even regular every day activities that are just.. I dunno. Lacking a lot of meaning and depth I suppose.

That's cool! You sound like you've got a good network of friends, I wish I grew up with friends like that. I've always been kinda weird and like a loner for the most part and it's tough to find likeminds.

Hmm.. Yeah something to think about, there's a lot of traps out there to keep people in place or in certain sorts of archetypes, we really gotta reflect and look at ourselves a lot to not get too stuck.

But Bruce Lee broke this whole notion of traditional rigidity by saying that true kung fu is everything and it's everywhere, and you can't set rigid rules and regulations to movements. When movements have to follow a specific structure, and you are not allowed to change them, they are dead. A true martial arts is moving, flowing, changing, free. Same things is with everything in life.

Well said! Also I love Bruce Lee.. I read a lot about him when younger and felt his book on JKD helped me evolve massively! What a hero in my opinion!

No worries I enjoy your thoughts! And I can vibe with what you said a lot. I want to do similar more and more and work on creating some kind of community geared towards freedom. I think it's time.. We've as a collective in the world been stagnant for a while and I think we need to evolve more again and move to the next level. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I think I may have the answer, and it seems like one you and I have been dancing around for some time. When are you free for a chat? Preferably on discord rather than here.

Oh? I'd be curious to hear what you think. And.. I'm not exactly sure when I'll be free but I'm usually available almost every day throughout the day.. So.. Just send me a message on discord sometime and we can go from there. Here's my discord info. apolymask#5473

I messaged you on there. I look forward to your thoughts on what I expressed.

I don't see where we can have any movement that would cause a large scale change. A study of history and the religions are a testament to several truths.

  • People want leaders, they don't wan't the fear that comes with responsibility.

  • There are always cunning people who have an evil inside of them that understand this need within the many to want taken care of. They will offer a semblance of protection while creating an illusion of caring.

  • There are even larger amounts of brutish evil people who enjoy using their power over others to hurt them. They enjoy doing the bidding of those listed above who weave the spells the masses desire. They are granted the illusion that it is acceptable as long as it is in the dark masters service.

  • The above two groups understand those like us are the nail that needs hammered if we directly challenge their farming of the masses. They do not take lightly to those who would turn the ghosts back into humans.

  • The ghosts who demand their illusions will curse you quickly to maintain their place in the farm. The masses prefer to remain ghosts.

The answer lies in being open and ready to do what is right, and allowing the ghosts who have the power to see witness what a free person can do. Not by challenging them (unless it is in self defense), but making them covet the power behind responsibility. Covet the power of love only a free person has to give.

Labels and names have not saved the world yet. At best, the light behind those words were able to temporarily halt the evil disease. But the diseased ones always wait for the people to forget and demand their shackles of illusion.

My heart goes out to you, understanding all to well the battleground you find yourself on. It is a battle many can't move past, understanding the world doesn't want saved. They covet the whispered/implied promises of the dark ones and will have it no other way. It is a heartbreaking epiphany. As acceptance comes, love for others deepens as one realizes just how fragile the spirit of man is.

Please post updates on how your movement progresses. There will be many positives, despite what I wrote above, in the fellowship a group such as this can cultivate.

I know nothing about starting movements and/or revolutions so I dont know if I would be any help at all. But have you seen the documentary "How to start a revolution" by Gene Sharpe? I thought it was pretty informative and I believe he has a handbook that can be found online for free as a PDF doc. I believe, the man has basically dedicated his life to the subject of revolutions and has come up with the top key ingredients. You may already be familiar with all this but if not it could be a good resource for some ideas :)

You've already been of help by pointing me in the direction of the documentary and handbook. :) I was not aware of it.. Well.. It sounds familiar, I may have come across it in the past but don't remember watching it or getting very deep into it and now I think it will be very helpful to see what he has to say! Thank you!

Oh great! If you end up watching it or reading it, let me know what you think :)

Will do! And.. I will watch it, and probably read it as well. I've got a number of people who are feeling very similar and we want to see a change and I need to learn more about this kinda stuff asap so I might even watch the documentary later tonight. Thanks again!

Oh shit! That's awesome man. Now I really hope that its helpful. I'm a bit nervous. That feeling when you recommend something to someone and they hate it or think it's stupid hahaha. I'm just hoping it's not a waste of your time.

Ok I need to stop overthinking this. Even if you dont like it, it will be ok hahaha.

No worries bud. I'm sure it will be helpful as I need to learn more about the subject. So whether I agree with the conclusions or not I'm pretty confident and sure that I'm going to learn something new which will be helpful. :) But hey who knows, maybe it'll help A LOT. Time will tell, though I'm sure it will be helpful one way or the other. :) Thanks again!

Sounds good ;) What's the name? hehe.

Decentralopen Veganarchy :P

Word krnel! Would be awesome to have you with us in some form if you're interested. I definitely would like to be surrounded by vegan/anarchist likeminded sorts of people, though simultaneously.. I think it'd be good if we could widen our umbrella as much as possible to allow people to participate who might not necessarily agree in some areas.. It seems like freedom and love should be a big tent and we should try to include as many as we can who want to genuinely be a part.

In regards to the name, lol! I like what you did there. I was thinking similar a while back when trying to come up with a name that fit all of these principles together, mine was something like.. Panarchan. Which was Pantheist, anarchist, vegan.. Though once again I don't want to limit what we are too much or exclude too many people who might not believe exactly the same thing.. I think love and freedom would appeal to the widest amount of people.. So maybe something that connects those two principles? I'm having a hard time thinking of something good though!
At some point we should have a group discussion with all the people interested and try to hash out some of these details more.

Silly walks.

You can never go wrong with silly walks.

Lol.. Not sure what you mean in regards to silly walks? As in a name for the group or one of the planks? That would be funny, though probably would create an air or atmosphere of less "seriousness".

Definitely look up the Bureau of Silly Walks. It may not help with your more serious question, but it couldn't hurt!
