Some extra thoughts on the IFC as we near the end of the first season.

in #writing6 years ago

Wow.. That was one of the most amazing things I've ever been a part of.. And.. It's not over yet. But I just posted the final round of the first season for the Information Finding Championship and in around two weeks coincidentally on my birthday the final round should be over, and then it will probably take around a week for the judges to vote, and.. We'll be done with the first season and have our first official Information Finding Champion.

You can check out the final round link here if you'd like.

Moving on.. Or shall we say.. Zooming on?

I don't think I ever would have come up with an idea like this contest if it wasn't for steemit and the ability for peoples to easily exchange value between each other on the platform. And this gives me a glimpse into the future and what the future holds for society.

This is just the start. Things are going to be fascinatingly different before too much longer, much more along the lines of the stereotypical future with flying cars many of us hoped for growing up. A lot of that kind of stuff I think is happening and not too far off before it's more mainstream.

One of our players just left this comment in regards to the contest which kinda blew me away. "This has been epic! I have never seen such an adventure spanning the online and offline world!"

Now.. It probably shouldn't have blown me away so much because I've heard a lot of other really amazing feedback. So much now that.. I know we're onto something special, because of what so many people have been saying for a while now.

What extra blows me away about the comment is how she mentioned that she's never seen an adventure quite like this that spans the online and offline world. And.. Neither have I! Lol. This is new territory just like cryptocurrecny sort of is for many of us.

We have a lot of room to grow, and if we ever get noticed enough that abundant funds start coming in then this game could continue to grow into something amazingly epic unlike the world has ever really seen before.

I can think of at least one similar game, you may wanna look it up.. It's called Cicada 3301. Here's an excerpt from wikipedia I find amusing.

"It has been called "the most elaborate and mysterious puzzle of the internet age"[11] and is listed as one of the "top 5 eeriest, unsolved mysteries of the internet",[12] and much speculation exists as to its function. Many have speculated that the puzzles are a recruitment tool for the NSA, CIA, MI6, a "Masonic conspiracy"[13] or a cyber mercenary group.[1][8] Others have claimed Cicada 3301 is an alternate reality game. No company or individual has taken credit for it or attempted to monetize it, however.[11]"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cicada_3301

Pretty fascinating stuff eh? Now.. Our quests/puzzles are probably nowhere near as difficult as the Cicada ones, and we're not really trying to recruit anyone into occult societies, lol.. However.. Maybe in time our quests can become more challenging like that! And even if they aren't as difficult, our game still has a lot of other interesting things going on that make it different.

The more I think about it.. Since I've been aware of this Cicada game for a while I think the Cicada model has probably served as some inspiration in the back of my mind when coming up with the idea for the IFC, and if so it continues to inspire me in the way it captivates so many people in a mysterious way. Hopefully in time the IFC develops a sort of similar reputation as being a unique and mysterious and fascinating puzzle game of the internet age. :) Hey.. I can dream at least! :D

And while we may not be looking for recruits for occult groups, I do feel like special groups of unique people are forming out of this that will help make the world a better place in various ways.
It really does feel like a group of heroes to me, that is helping to push back against some of the injustice in the world. Ala Suikoden.

So.. In closing.. I'm incredibly grateful for being a part of all this and being involved with so many heroes in the community. I'm also incredibly looking forward to a break when its all over and to think about things, and also incredibly looking forward to the next season and doing it all over again. :) Hopefully for as many years into the future as it is possible. <3

PS.. This game is more and more reminding me of "Ready Player One". Which I wrote a post about recently. Interesting times we are in!

PSPS.. I didn't even really get into the Marketplace which is such an amazing aspect of all this as well and there's so much to talk about, really fascinated to see where this path goes.

Oh? That's interesting! Indeed it is an interesting topic, makes me feel like doing a lil refresher course and seeing what's new with the subject, maybe I can learn something to help make the IFC contest more interesting or to work better somehow. ._.

Also indeed! An interesting season for sure! I remember near the beginning there was interesting news or things happening almost every day! Was awesome, lol. I have a feeling much more interesting times are in store for the future! :D
I look forward to season 2 as well! Highly.
Oh and.. Those colors with those words at the end make me happy. :) Love your artwork! :)
